Who can forget this one?
Hated the band, loved the clip. ![]()
Ahhh… the 80’s…
back when heterosexuality wasn’t a dirty word…!!

I knew which song that was going to be just from the thumbnail picture!![]()
Still don’t know how this shit song got so popular.
Maybe if I watch the video enough times it might dawn on me?![]()
(Just watched it and they’ve edited out much of the original video
)
Explains why people used to say that the most important skill you’ll pick up studying your Bachelor of Arts degree is learning to say “Would you like fries with that?” ![]()
Sobering stuff…
I know 3 year 11 students looking for apprenticeships. Tradies aren’t willing to take them on
My previous job to gel and what I do now I worked with a lot of tradies, many would have liked to put on apprentices but the up and down nature of their business meant that they would be paying for them full time when they only had 2 or 3 days worth of work, and then paying them overtime in the busy times. Sure they are “discounted wages” compared to a TA or qualified tradie but many just didn’t have the means to support them, and would have struggled the weeks they went to TAFE etc.
And finding one that would actually stay is an equal battle as unless they were young and living at home the prospective apprentice simply cant afford to be an apprentice.
Decades of valuing useless uni degrees and pushing every school leaving to tertiary education has limited the supply of tradies. Damn shame too.
Local kid (Shaun) with sense of humour doing car detailing with company called SheepShine

bro he literally starts a war and then just praises the other side after the war
LMFAO I wanna know wtf is happening bru
I lost a firearm & cnc opportunity for those gel blasters bc of the two war starters , but these guys lost mentality so I lost nothing compared to them…
Anyways I should truly apologize in the Projects on the bench topic for Larping as I promised to so many people and friends in this community ( Even tho it wasn’t my fault )
And that’s gonna be the sad part
Don’t think the gov is subsidizing like they used to in my time.
Unfortunately Australian Government has dropped the ball when it comes to Trades Apprenticeships.
The first problem is that 90% of schools have completely dropped Woodwork, Metal Work, Electrical and any Building Trades related Subjects from their curriculums due to “Safety and Insurance” reasons.
This leaves every single new generation school kid without any important prior knowledge or skills in the industry.![]()
The incentive to follow a Trade related further studies programme following the completion of High School has also been severely depleted, leaving many TAFE and further education systems to completely drop these vital learning pathways.
The Gumbyment is now basically relying solely upon the Mining and Building Trades to take up the time and costs of putting on Apprentices and training them on the Job Site, whilst having to front up the money to get them educated and skilled enough to earn their Trade Certificates.![]()
I had several of my customers over the years asking me if I could take on their Son’s/Daughters to teach them my Trade, which I would 100% love to have done, but as a Sole Trader one man band, the sheer cost of Wages, Insurances and WHS Laws made it practically impossible to take them on.![]()
There’s a massive loss of many talented young people in this country in the Trades sector due to how the Gumbyment has made it nigh on impossible to get the education and skills required.
This is why this country is being flooded with massive immigration to cover the most basic jobs that our youth USED to fullfill back when we had a proper education pathway available to them.
Yeah, it’s a shitshow that’s only getting worse and the Gumbyment hasn’t shown ANY interest in fixing these issues.
Car keys, man… ![]()
Drove up to the bottle-o last Friday arvo to buy a bottle of rum for a party on Saturday night.
The Forester’s fob doesn’t always want to unlock the car, it gets a tap on the towball now and then which seems to help. So the key shell decided to fly apart when I smacked it on the ball once or twice and everything went flying.
Picked it all up, bought the rum, got back into the car no problem. Turn the key… dead stick. ![]()
I forgot about the RF transponder chip, didn’t I? Couldn’t disable the engine immobiliser. ![]()
So after an hour long search for the missing chip it’s a three klm walk home for Friendly… a couple of phonecalls to an auto locksmith later, the car spent the night out in the bottle-o carpark with the lockie booked in for Saturday morning. He arrives with a new chip and his diagnostic tablet around lunchtime, but can’t get the new transponder to sync with the EMS with the tablet he’s got. So he’s back to the workshop to pick up another tablet.
An hour later and still no bueno… so he gives up, and after spending another hour on hands and knees looking for the original chip we give up. I ring another auto lockie in Northlakes but he can’t make it out until Sunday afternoon. So the Forester spends another night in the carpark under a tree getting covered in birdshit and leaves and I get to go straight to the party wearing clothes that were no way warm enough for a hinterland night party.
Sunday arvo rolls around, me with a moosehead the size of Texas and no call back from the second lockie… I start getting shitty. I finally get a call at 5:30pm and we’re around there in the dark sorting it out. Long story short, the Forester’s back on the driveway.
So two after-hours callout fees and a new chip install later, I’m out about $800. ![]()
Gotta be the most expensive bottle of Plantation rum I’ve ever bought… any wonder I drank the whole thing Saturday night. ![]()
Was a great party though… rural property up in Conondale, live bands and a fire that’d give Maiphut a run for his money. Hard to fight the temptation to throw the Forester key on the fire and just say “Fuckit!!” though ![]()
Yes that was what I was alluding to. I started out finished yr 12 high school and scored Maintence Fitter, that’s me.
I applied for over a dozen places including the Army. Army was too slow as ROH snapped me up, Army rang back a week later said can you come in for another interview. I’m sorry I can’t I start monday morning. Oh hope you go well. And I did. I loved it learning how to fit and turn things in to shit ![]()
Even National railways before they went bust applied there. Detroit Diesel. GMHA. MMA. I applied everywhere. It was crazy 600 applicants in my day and they have 12 positions. I thought fk I’ve got buckleys of getting any hope but I’ll give it my best. Letters of no sorry you didn’t pass. I thought oh well worst case join the army as infantry.
Then I got a letter really quick from ROH and they were gov subsidised in the 90’s. Gov allotted ROH 12 positions. Back then the gov give them something but ROH had an internal policy on top as non Union shop. I had to pay for my TAFE courses up front which was fkn hard on a dollar 20 an hour. I made it work, hell or high water I’m doing this. As long as I passed my TAFE courses ROH would pay the course back viz gov subsidy before christmas. I loved it was money in the bank that I couldn’t touch but gave me incentive to pass. I did that well a week course at tafe , done by wednesday afternoon. ROH were like what are you doing here, finished the course, passed done nothing left to do. ![]()
Got called back for another face to face personal interview. Then there was the Toolroom manager, top fellow back then. He looked me in the eye, said what would you do if I asked to cleap up the shop. I just blurted out, find the nearest broom and start sweeping. Easy.
I think I got sold on that. I went well, great company to work for except it was auto industry and that was going to disappear unfortunately why I had to move on before too late.
