Big Bubba is…!!

Don’t forget to bend over when you play hide the soap bar by force :face_with_peeking_eye:

I am Bosnian and fought in that last genocide.
If those Serbian pricks start this shit up again .
I hope someone nukes them out of existence.
I am happy to go back and end my existence fighting against them again ,even at my age.

Yes it is a very touchy subject for me

I was born there when the country was called Yugoslavia

Yes a couple of my mates feel the same way. Seems like a few indications of starting again.

If one country ever need a wall built between it and the rest of Europe Serbia is it.
They have been doing this shit since before the first world war.
I mean a Serbian assassin killed Prince Arch duke Ferdinand which was Catullus to starting the first world war.
All us Slavic people can be hot tempered
But the Serbs have always thought they were better than everyone else.
Don’t get me wrong not all Serbs are like that and I have a few Serb friends who have denounced there race.
But it’s always the hardliners that cause shit even when they moved over hear.
As a kid I was never allowed to associate with an Serbs.
As my old man was a Croatian
If it’s not politics, then it’s religion that causes shit.
I will leave it at that sorry I know this is not a place to vent

EDIT: it means diablo 4 is gonna be on game pass. sweet. not paying $110 for base edition.

A good mate of mine is Croatian, a tough and rough old pensioner who many people don’t get along with or understand very well, so most people steer clear of him.

I first met him when he moved to this small town about 15 years ago and took time to get to know him…… speaking of which…. might even go pay him a visit this afternoon!

We were sitting outside at the local Pub one Saturday afternoon and a couple of Tourists happened to overhear us talking.

The fitter/younger (mid 30’s) of these two men walked up to the table and said something to my mate in a language that I couldn’t understand…… and that’s when it happened!

Old mate sprang up and glassed this bloke in the side of the head, swept his leg and dropped him onto the ground in the blink of an eye.

Proceeded to put this bloke in a choke hold and was yelling something that I had no idea was saying.

I jumped up and eventually pulled him off the young bloke, even though he wasn’t letting go and tried kicking the fella as I was dragging him off……. he was a fkn strong old bastard and took all my strength to contain him.

The older tourist bloke dragged his friend up and away from the premises, with my mate still hurling insults at him.

I was so surprised and confused as to what had just happened, but decided to get my old mate to sit back down while I went to get him another beer and a broom/pan to clean up the broken glass mess.

After a while he was able to calm down, apologise and explain himself why he flew off the handle.

Turns out that this young tourist had heard my mates accent, and being an arrogant strong young man, decided to come over and say something derogatory to my old mate, including a slander towards his family and country.

You guessed it…… the cocky young asshole was Serbian, and even though here as a tourist, decided to come over and insult an old Croatian man in his 70’s who was simply trying to enjoy a quiet beer.

What young bloke didn’t realise was that my old mate lost his whole family and girlfriend to the Serbs in some sort of conflict when he was only in his early 20’s.

He went and joined the French Foreign Legion and proceeded to spend his next 30 years fighting in all sorts of campaigns all around the world.
(No wonder he’s a grumpy/tough old bastard!)

He was eventually badly injured enough from a Parachute accident in Africa that ended his career, and decided to emigrate to Australia for his health and tranquil lifestyle in retirement, plus he always loved all of the Aussies who he fought with throughout many campaigns.

The cocky young Serbian asshole certainly chose the wrong silver haired old man to pick on that day …… the old bugger is still wiry, fast, strong and hasn’t forgotten anything of his hand to hand combat training !

I was honestly quite uneducated about the whole situation between the two countries until my old mate and I had many conversations about his life and family history in the many years since.

That hatred is still ingrained into him until the day he dies, yet I can honestly understand exactly the reasons why :frowning:

Yeah, after typing all of this, definitely gonna give him a call and go catch up with him and a couple of longnecks this afternoon :sunglasses:

Say hello from a fellow Croatian
As both my parents are Croatian
I just happened to be born in Bosnia as they were fleeing the country to come to Australia in 1960.

………….

I know this may sound naive (and it is) but it would be nice to just “get along”.

I will do!
Gave old mate a call, but he’s currently not home and getting more medical treatment for his busted back :frowning:

Still going to catch up with him over the weekend though.

I can’t remember the nickname that he was given from the other Legionnaires after his parachute incident…… might have been “lucky” or “Lotto” or something similar from memory.

He hates it, but the regiment were dropped into a desert in Africa, and he somehow managed to land in the only tree for thousands of miles!

Took quite a bit of equipment, effort and time to get him back out of there apparently.

Not naive…… just a pretty common thing throughout Europe and the Middle East etc. where different Religions and Cultures have been fighting for centuries, basically part of their blood for thousands of years and don’t know any better life or understanding.

Heard of Israel/Gaza Strip etc…… that will never end in anyone’s lifetime :frowning:

Both my mates, one my best, are both Yugoslavian, Croatian. Born Australia and stayed here last 50 years, their parents are unfortunately passed these days but came to Australia, not exactly sure when be before 1970 sometime. His father was a great friend of mine from work and how I met his son.
Some of the most honest people I’ve met, why he’s my best friend for over 30 years. He can sure fuck dickheads up too, took a whole group of a dozen wogs out one time. haha there was greeks flying everywhere, yea they picked on him. Bad move.
He’s having a bad time with marriage break up and financial ass reaming so I’m helping where I can.

Wishing your mate all the best for his future…… but can also imagine that his strength and fortitude will definitely see him through :+1:

It was a whole shitshow of inter fighting between Yugoslavia,/Croatia/Serbia/Bosnia etc etc throughout the whole region that had been going on for many years prior to the recorded history of the Independent State Conflicts throughout the 80’s and 90’s.

What happened with my old mate and his family was in regional disputes earlier in this timeframe which never really made any world headlines back in those early years of limited global/media coverage.

Which is something that he has commented about many times, the amount of regional fighting and terrible deaths that were committed for years and never reported or acknowledged outside of the region……. the rest of the world was ignorant and simply never cared what was going on within those regions.

I don’t think anyone will ever know how many conflicts have occurred in history, or even currently in different corners of the world.

Certainly much easier in the modern electronic/internet age, but back then was absolutely nothing to get local issue news out to the rest of the world.

I think it even goes back to the 1300’s and the Ottomans I read somewhere awhile ago. Lots of history there.

Yeah, I find it very difficult understanding the places and times that he rarely likes to talk about…… usually only after a few straight Scotches and in between a few tears as well :frowning:

I don’t know the names of towns/cities/specific regions that he mentions, would have to have Google Maps and Wikipedia on hand to translate it all, but it’s the stories of what happened in his life, not really important about the timeline or specific geographical locations.

Always a very interesting old bloke to sit around and share friendships with, especially as he’s pretty much alone here, apart from a “stepdaughter” who’s family never comes and visits him anyway

is it just me or does the pistol used by vic police look rubbish?!

Atleast you get to see it in action when you accidentally do 41 in the school zone

My best mate’s an Aussie Croat… born here but Croation parents

Great cook, funny bugger, hard rider, hard drinker, awesome mechanic and one of the most down to earth, genuine and loyal people you’d ever meet. Would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

The kind of guy you’re glad to have beside you in a tough spot. :+1:
