One days work, for the govt, one days work for yourself.
Then, when you spend your money on goods, more GST for the govt…double taxation…

If you have that one income supporting a family and a mortgage, you are certainly not rolling in $$$…

wowee I thought as much in my experiences.
Trying to make them understand who I actually was a different matter eeesh even to having point out the fact that you can not get your birth certificate. You can get a certified copy issued by the registry and that is it. Lady was sticking me up on that. Saying yes I can and the one I provided is a copy and she can’t accept that. I finished up with after days of crap well I know for a fact you have not got your original birth certificate. Got passed the next hour.
And this is why some of my long time mates have left their Tradie jobs and gone to the mines. They have a wife and couple rug rats and can not make ends meet.
At the mines they are on hollywood money but paying 30 to 50 percent tax when you round up end of year statements.
Im happy to stay in OZ, while mum is still alive…
But , after she passes, I may (legally) leave Oz, and work overseas for a few years.
Overseas contracts are much more lucrative, world wide pilot shortage, US carriers are sponsering (I’d rather go there, than the middle east).
Aust is lower pay / high tax/ high cost of living.
Riyadh Air, is offering Direct entry widebody captains around 600K , US, tax free, per year…
You’ve gotta live in the sandpit, in a muslim country, with no job security or rights…but…3 or 4 years of that, is more than you’d make in 15+ years in Oz…
US carriers pay a lot less, but still 2.5x take home pay, here in OZ…
Here, you contribute big tax payments all your life, and get nothing at the end.
Mum is a self funded retiree, and is living on less than the pension…
And will have to pay, as she needs care…and self fund, if she needs to go into a retirement home.
I hate paying tax, for deadbeat dole bludgers, who do nothing their whole lives, never contribute to society, and are just a drain…

I understand what you do for a job and it is extremely important with a huge responsibility. For that you should be paid well. Skills to pay the bills.
Sounds like a plan you have and a lot of others. Just don’t go to China as they have already lured some of ex raaf pilots
