The Shit Pit

The biggest obstruction…??

“I cant do this, because…”

Ge rid of that , and you can do almost anything…!
go.!

Winners mindset…

“what have i gotta do, to get…this?”
Keep going…

I mean. That’s really good in theory, but sometimes things are genuinely beyond our control, and sometimes there just genuinely are limitations stopping people from doing things that cannot be overcome with a “winners mindset”.

Like.

Someone with bipolar. For three months they might be able to work, no problems. And then mania sets in. The chemicals in their brain start going fucky, and they are literally unable to behave normally. They argue with their boss a bunch, miss days of work because of insomnia keeping them awake for 3 days (would YOU want a workmate operating heavy machinery if they were that tired?) and eventually they get fired.

They had the winner mentality to try and go to work, and they didn’t want to argue with their boss. But the chemicals in their brain made them. You can’t change-of-attitude yourself out of your own brain basically drugging you.

Or maybe it’s a single mother of 3, who had to get a divorce because her hubby was beating her and the kids. That woman is going to be flat out like a lizard drinking, all day, every day that they aren’t at school. She isn’t going to have the time to work extra hours, or a more demanding job, or university level education.

We can’t know what’s going on in everyone’s lives. We, like everyone else, are only human. So it’s best to try and give what help we can to everyone, and to spread government financial benefits to as many average blokes and ladies as we can. We’re in the middle of a cost of living crisis, so especially now we shouldn’t expect the poor to be shouldering ALL of the financial burden themselves. Liberal and the media are being downright unaustralian, trying to convince everyone that only the rich should benefit.

For sure and that is what gov welfare support should be used for.

I’m pretty sure BME and me refer to the dead beat not too far from me that gets $1000 per week from the gov and goes and pisses it up the wall at the pub. He even went as far as getting the gov to pay for drivers licence training and the licence after not having one for 20 years and never stopped driving around. This is the sort of thing that is a drain. He’s fully physical fit but likes his drugs and alcohol too much. Person can not out of that much money even budget to pay the $100 per week rent.

I know thousands of people would kill for a rental price such as that for a 3 bedroom home.

Not my property and not my business but using it as an example.

The winner mindset if you call it that.

I’ve had to do it many times I’ve had to grit my teeth and dig deep. C’mon you can do this and put the effort in and get the many various things done. The best part is the satisfaction after you have achieved that goal. Something blocking your goal, look at ways around it or change your goal. Sometimes you just gotta do what ya gotta do. Hope that makes sense.

There are people that need genuine help, and i have no problem with that.
People with disabilities, genuine mental issues, and other issues that need help. All good, thats what the system is for.

As Maiphut said above, its the lazy people that cant be stuffed to attempt anything, develop victim mindset, welfare dependence… and do nothing with their lives, contribute nothing , and are a drain. They are the ones, i have an issue with.

Drive, determination and ambition are required, to have get up and go…
My property manager grew up in poverty, with a welfare dependent mindset mum. She (her words) hated being poor, and after using drugs in her early 20’s, decided to take action to improve her life.

She stopped using drugs, got her real estate license, became an agent. She now sells 2/3 million listings, does awesome property management…and can deduct things against her business. She has got drive and determination.

You dont have to be the next Elon Musk, its not that hard to do things, if you want to have a crack…

My friend Jules, who went through dentistry with me, had two kids, around 8 and 11. Her husband was working part time, and dent was 5 days a week, for 5 years.

The HECS debt was there, to defer payment, until she was working.
Every day was a battle, the course was intense, and 5 days per week.
I gave her my old laptop, and she nearly broke down and cried, she appreciated it so much.

Hers is the story i tell my nephew, thats the type of person you want to be, rather than your (narcissist) mother, who has literally done nothing, and just lived off others her whole life…

I think a lot of people struggle when they do a really expensive uni course go through get a good job like everyone recommends them to their whole life and still can’t afford to pay bills and own their own house.

Squiddy, please…change your profile pic.
I keep getting tigger flashbacks…!!!

The trick is, to get into a good programme.
Dentists, after a few years, and getting faster / better, can earn 250-300k.
They can also own their own buisness.

Also, you can get sponsered by the military, they pay for your fees, pay you a wage as you go through, and give you a job when you graduate. If they sponsor you 2 years, you owe them 3 years return of service.

I needed to get an OP1 to get into dent, i did the foundation year of pharmacy, worked my butt off, got HD’s, and transferred into dent.

I also went to hubbards school, twice in my lifetime.
First time was to get Maths1 / physics, to get an airline job.
Second time was while i was still working, to do Chem, as a course prerequisite for Pharm.

Lots of hard work, but refer to my previous statements about drive, struggle and sacrifice to get ahead.

I got average marks at high school, its when you have a goal, you really apply yourself. I tell this to my neice and nephew, its never to late to go back and study, to improve yourself.

Dont say to yourself" i cant do this, because…", ask, what do i need to do next.?

100 agree with all of the above… in particular Jazzy’s comment about never really knowing everything about a person’s circumstances. And sometimes appearances can be deceptive.

Personally, my significant physical problems are not always evident, but serious enough to put me on a DSP. It took me a long time to get used to that, I started work at 17 and worked every day, paid taxes and raised a family until the age of 56. I based my self worth on my ability to provide for my family. But when I got to the point where I just physically couldn’t do it anymore and what I was doing was leaving me a crippled wreck at the end of every working day, I just had to stop and take stock. Nearly 40 years of solid consistent employment before that dreaded day though.

Now occasionally I’lI get labelled a welfare bludger by people who don’t know me or my circumstances because I’m on a DSP and you have to look pretty hard to see any disability. But auto-immune diseases tend to be like that… invisible no matter how debilitating they are.

Looking younger than I am doesn’t help either. I never justify myself with an explanation because my health is nobody else’s fucking business (unless I choose to share, like now ), I usually answer them with “Come and tell me what you think of me when you’ve got 40 years of physical labour under your belt, a clean slate of paying your taxes and always servicing your debts… then I might give a shit about your opinion of me”.

Like i said, i have no problem with those who require genuine assistance.
Thats exactly what the system is for.
It would be a struggle, to have to accept you cant work anymore, and for so many men, their self esteem comes from being a good provider.
But , your worth is more than your income…

Its the people who dont have a crack at anything, ever, that peeve me…
Im also annoyed, now that mum is getting older ( just activated enduring power of attorney), that she gets very little by way of govt aid, as she is a self funded retiree. Shes not ‘rich’ gets by on less than the pension, this is the time of life for her to get some assistance, but she has to pay for everything.

The world is not always fair, id hate to be starting in the housing market from scratch with housing prices now, but even more so now, a decent education is required to survive.

Oz isn’t the land of opportunity, it used to be…houses can be had in the US, for 300k…
