Olive gives me the pits
Isnt that just the included shell type?
Yeah, but…
The UDL is designed, to fire darts…through its own custom shells…
The yank job is designed, to fire 3 bb’s, through a completely different shell, and not be ejected…
Very Different beasts…
Called into xforce today….
Spas 12 back in stock…
And apparently the new ones have been modded to fire gels…
They were busy, no time for a test demo, but maybe another day…
I’m not a member of the fb group…
Mini review?
Specs?
Short video of firing with shell ejection
Ok…
Do they give gel fps.?
look very nice and the glock too …
We dont go to Ravenholm anymore…until its time to upgrade…!
Picked up the gel versions, of the SPAS, and 1897…
Quick mini-update…
SPAS first…
Identical to the previous model, except now its purely gel only.
Metal barrel, goes out to the tip, and modded shells, to hold gel(s).
M1897 shells on the left (shorter), and SPAS shells on the right.
1897 have a metal inner tube, SPAS are plastic.
Same body as before, looks like i’ll have some more painting to do…
You can load more than one gel, in each shell, for a “multi shot burst”.
This obviously sacrifices fps.
Single gel, they seemed to like smaller gels. Larger gels slow down the fps.
I used (older) xforce pinks, and got the following results…
SPAS: range between 250-270…max 275fps.
M1897: range between 200-230, max 232 fps.
This was using a batch of xforce pinks, a few months old.
Not massive performers, as could be expected.
Spring upgrades would yield better results, id better go back and see what springs @bikersmurf used, and where he got them from…
Finally, i tried using the new shells on the old SPAS, it did fire gels…at around 70-80 fps.
No surprises there, no inner barrel to accelerate, guide them.
$200 for a SPAS is a good price for the SPAS, if you missed out on one before, grab one now.
I might use my old dart versions, to pull apart and play with spring upgrades…then upgrade the Gel versions…
I perhaps, may have, one or two blasters…
“How many do you need???”
“Yes…”
I actually have a spare, unopened dart Spas 12, I was keeping it for a spare / pull apart jobby… I guess its a collectors item now…!!
I was thinking of selling it ( half price) to get rid of it, now these have come out…
Someone could repaint it / mod it / have decent dart blaster…
Time for a quick visit, to Ravenholm again…
Been meaning to do this for awhile… a all black / No stock / HL2 Spas…
Pulled out the new gel version, time for a bit of work…
Stock standard, its a bit of a hotch-potch.
- 4 different shades of black ( Grip, receiver, pump, stock)
- White decals
- Baby poo brown cage.
- (Very firmly glued on ) red barrel ring.
First order of buisness, get rid of the decals.
Tamiya paint remover does an admirable job, removing paint without attacking the plastic. It doesn’t get rid of it 100%… but enough a light coat of paint covers it easily.
This pic shows the different shades of black ( here we go again!)
The red ring was a bit tricky.
Hot water alone, didnt do the trick.
Hacksawed nearly through, very thin plastic remaining.
Was able to crack with a flat screwdriver. and lever it off.
Minimal marking that way. A bit of 1200 wet and dry to remove glue /smoothen out…
Decals also removed. No paint yet.
Look at the contrast., from grip to receiver…
Using my new cans of dymark.
Cage out, in the sun drying…
This will rub through, i know that, it’ll expose the brown underneath as a ‘worn look’
For the body, only a light , quick coating.
The black plastic of the grip looks ’ sparkly’ under the right lighting conditions…
want to cover that, and go for the ‘old worn look’
Very flat, as though its 20 years old and has been left in the sun a lot…
So, one quick light coat, dry, and some flat lacquer over it…
I haven’t touched the pump yet.
You can see some ‘sparkle’ in that.
I’ll see how it goes…easy to do later.
Cage is still off drying… so here is the pump overlaying the receiver.
Looking better than stock.
The pump is noticeably shiny, to my eyes…
Getting there.
I’ll do the stock the same colour as well so it matches, but i’ll leave it off.
HL2 / T2 all were stockless…
Cage back on 2morrow, when its dry.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, its time for a quick tour of a certain HL2 industrial zone…
Its been that long since i’ve played it… it’ll all be fresh again…!!
Next project…Gravity Gun .??!
Looks like they are sold out everywhere…
I wonder if @AKgelblaster is still able to get them.??
Would be a big seller for her, next order, if she can get them…right price point too…
(No , i dont want any more…!! )
I’d have one
20 characters
Ok…paint dried overnight.
Cage back on…
Same dymark paint, used on cage and receiver…note the difference…
Pump back on…
Pump is unpainted. I might leave it like that , for awhile.
Having some different blacks, breaks it up a little…
I must say, i do like the lighter weight / less bulk of being stockless.
The Spas stock is iconic…but semi nekkid is very cool too… HL2 style…
Here is the painted stock, quickly attached. Hook not fitted, i’ll give it another coat…
The dull black does look good.
Comparo between the two…
I like…both…!!
Decisons, Decisions…
The different shades, do break it up somewhat.
The original versions were dart, the 2nd generation were gel only.
I wonder if the conversions were done overseas…??
They always sell out, as soon as someone brings them in.
I’m sure if another batch was brought in, they’d sell out again.
Here is the photo of the one i had, in the states…
The cage looks a little bigger…and the barrel end is dressed up a bit more.
