What Did You Get Up To Today?

The best part that I forgot to mention is that I found a good supplier in China, where I’m getting these things dirt cheap :raised_hands:

The MN82 retails around $100-$150 inc. postage online, I’m getting these for $34 delivered.

The WPL C-64 Hilux I just got retail anywhere up to $200 inc. postage, I’m getting these for $27 delivered.

Others I’ve ordered are in the $100-$150 range that I’m getting from $17-$20, $200-$300 models for $50-$70 etc…,… hence why I went a bit silly on how many I have ordered :joy:

Good stuff I know the WPL manufacturer they make some good rc’s that perform unlike others.

The 5B Baja etc can get pricey very quickly that I have.

I like my Tamiya’s as well just for the build quality and putting together. They are by no means capable of doing 40ft jumps off the sand dunes here.

Hell yeah!
That’s similar to what I was running when I exited the hobby all those years ago, and also hence why I’ve gone right down to the bottom rung of the RC hobby buggies… because I know how expensive it was way back then, let alone getting back into the same level these days :astonished:

These WPL and MN small scale crawlers have a massive following worldwide and thousands of high end upgrades available where there’s no limits as to how much can be modified with these things :raised_hands:

Why I don’t have a Traxxas X Maxx.

I’m a bit classics though. Got a Tamiya TXT-1 with aftermarket billet diffs. Even trying to find a TXT-1 good luck. Clod Buster. Kyosho USA-1 man that rips single brushless motor capable twin motor it but I can’t keep the front wheels down with one on 4S! :+1:

Aaaaahhhhh bringing back memories with all of those brand names, where anyone who had KYOSHO gear was considered the king of the hill!

In my old true Gelbaster fashion, I’m already pulling this brand new OOTB Hilux apart and had a set of soft aftermarket tyres and rims already arrived in the mail to fit onto it! :joy:

These original tyres/rims will probably never see the light of day :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yes, could never afford one but on the Kyosho re releases I finally have. :ok_hand:

Still not cheap from what I’ve seen, even the old TAMIYA models that they’ve fkd with!:disappointed:

No few hundred dollars though. I built a Tamiya Vanquish that so well built and put a 10T in it that cooks! Dare say I’d be banned from any races.

I just like hooning around on my property these days anyway :+1:

Have a happy New Year everyone :slightly_smiling_face:

Back at ya, Maiphut! :+1::blush:

Picked up a car for the sister-in-law… the Craptiva finally crapped out. Subie Forester, that makes three Subies on the property… all of them silver. Two Foresters and a WRX.

Neighbours are gonna think we lack imagination.

Hold on Euro trash Craptiva.

What no Beep beep Barina in the mix

Rexxys are ok when you get the Sti and thrash it in your farm paddock Colin Mcrae eat your heart out

Every time I have looked for a new car I look for rexxys. Catch is I want one that hasn’t been lowered with a big annoying resonatorless exhaust… and all of them seem to have this when I am looking!
I want them jacked up and rally spec, the way they were meant to be!

A big Ken Block fan I take it?:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yea they are ok but every wanna be does exactly what you said.

Glorified Volkswagen in my books, overheat, spit belts, crack blocks and expensive to maintain which needs to be done very regularly.

Old landrover drags them off anyway only at best 200 kilowasps.

The STi wagon I had, yeah old Kingswood went faster

Now a Nissan Pulsar with a SR20 non Turbo they rip, front wheel smokeys on dirt anyone. Stock. 9k rpm and reliable. $200  :+1:

You’d like mine then…

2006 unmolested Hawkeye… bog stock except for the dumb-arse boost guage mounted on the right pillar.

Not an STi though… pockets aren’t that deep.

Looks nice. They can get expensive quite quickly, son in law found that out with the OG Mcrae type WRX.

Then try go the Subaru dealer to get a service done which they must have regularly you’ll walk out with about 20 cents in your pocket of 4 grand

Still good lil scooters, handle well. :+1:

I know exactly where you’re coming from.

I’ve been lucky enough for the past five years to have a mechanic who closed up his workshop and works from home just up the road… owns and knows Subarus like the back of his hand.

Charged me $1600 for a clutch job when every other gucchi Subie mechanic wanted around $3K - $4K… he services all our cars and looks after us.

That’s awesome with the mechanic.

I love Subies, always wanted a Brumby when younger but even they are pricey and collectable now.

Was fun to have a go on another son in law picked up the stee wagon and make out your Colin McCrae for a day 140klm/hr sideways through a sandy pass.

It was cheap as it needed all sorts of mechanical work done and prior owner just drove it into the ground. Shame really being an STi. It was moved on to the junkyard as it needed a deep overhaul. Especially when we were done with it! :+1:

We had a licensed Brumby ute on my parents farm as a town runner/supplies fetcher… which was the early round headlight model.

When they sold the farm, I think the old man just drove it out to the local tip and left it there.

Damn shame, as it was well looked after for a farm hack and was in great condition, but wasn’t much demand for them back at the time… especially compared to the newer quad square headlight models.

So the old man decided it easier to just dump it rather than deal with idiots by advertising it for sale.

I would have happily taken it if I’d known he was getting rid of it, as was a fun little rig and something a bit different than our usual LandCruisers and Hiluxs.
