Spent half the afternoon in a 50⁰ back room fitting Portal Axles to my Hilux Rock Crawler.
Would have been nice if I’d realised earlier that the diffs were for earlier models that DIDN’T have counter rotating driveshafts :thinking:

Yes… now I have the front and rear axles driving in two different directions, all that work for nought, and now gotta pull it all out again :roll_eyes:

Feck it, time for a beer and contemplating why I’ve gotten back into a hobby after so many years and making stupid mistakes already… just like a born again Gelblaster noob :laughing:

Sheilding paint doesn’t create as good a faraday cage as the tape, Doc.

It’s easier but not as effective. :wink:

I’ve been looking around for trigger units and mosfets and cant help but find that there is no websites (other than Reddit) with a list with objective facts and information about different trigger units.

cant seem to find even a basic list so that I can check all my options across sellers.

surely we could do something about that.

Have seen both methods used before, and I guess that the paint has come a long way from the original stuff.

I was just going off the specs of that first product rated to 46dB and 99.995% shielding and thought… wow!.. can’t get much better than that from a simple couple of coats of paint!

Well… to be honest Doc…

Didn’t have any sheilding paint but had a big roll of the copper conductive tape… :wink:

So I used what I had. Does look cool though, no? Kinda like the landing gear on the lunar module. :joy:

My daughter is trying to catch those beautiful old sounds in the recording studio, and here you are getting rid of them! :astonished:

We had a long discussion one day whilst at the studio helping her pack up some of the rehearsal rooms.

Talking about how awesome old recordings were where you could hear the hum of the pickups, the scratching of the strings on metal, squeaks in the drums kick drum/cymbal pedals etc.

Modern music is soooooo CLEAN and overproduced, it’s lost its soul. :cry:

She’s trying to recapture that sound with not only her own Band/Music, but also working with other Bands/Musicians who are either rehearsing or recording Albums, to bring back a bit of raw warmth back into the music. :sunglasses::metal::skull_and_crossbones::smiling_imp::alien:

She has JEBEDIAH in the Studio this week, so I’m sure she’ll get her fix of old school crash bang music!

Looks like they’re getting ready for quite a big tour, in your neighbourhood too, along with Grinspoon, Spiderbait and a few others! :sunglasses:

Nice job! I have done it to a few a my guitars, definitely worth doing and 100% tedium as you say! It is an oddly satisfying process though…
