Looking good
I usually go for the QD point that is covered up by the sliding stock rails. More easy to manipulate with an AR tube. But that’s just me
Ahh great tip, I shall investigate tomorrow.
That looks cool beside the keymod front end.
How do you find that scope? Looks good but does it work? Glass any good?
Sure enough there it is
The other, er “hole”, was too shallow for this type of QD sling. I’m sure others would fit though as it has the recess inside
From the short time I’ve played with it, it’s fairly decent for a $80 optic, full twist and its still clear, eye relief is not to shabby for an LPVO, yet to test how accurate the elevation and wind is, though in low light it’s not operational, certainly would go well with a mounted RMR
That’s cool. Yes I see what you mean with the shallow QD point. As long as they are made for that type and have good sprung ball bearings to lock in you are gold.
I’m thinking they didn’t deepen that side QD due to production Doesn’t look right to me but likely production they just left it shallow. It happens
Cool, thanks for the run down. Helps others if they are interested or may be I’m just nosy
Cheers
I’m a big fan of LPVOs… almost practical for what we do in gelsoft. especially if your eyesight’s a bit on the fritz like me… helps you spot your targets a little easier.
Heavy little buggers though.
My eyesight is fine…
But seriously, I tried all the glass and just settled on open iron(plastic ) sights for close range engagements
Then settled on the Elcan for the AUG. My birthday present. Very good that one, want to be too for the price.
Haha yeah it’s certainly a touch heavier then the 558 I had on it but that aside it’s a good piece of kit, especially for the price, should look a touch better once I paint this thing at some point in the future
Nice, hows the eye relief on that puppy? How far forward can you mount that before it becomes a mission upon itself to find the reticle?
Eye relief’s pretty standard… it’s usually mounted pretty far back to guarantee a full image and clear reticule.
This is the same LPVO mocked up to look like a tele scope on my M24. You can see how far back it’s mounted.
Same on my EBR… eyepiece is right over the grip.
For sure set your eye relief to suit you. Not like my mate that said na it’s alright and let a 7.62mm loose. Had the ole ring stamp for days. Ya didn’t fkn listen did ya goose
The one thing I don’t like about LPVO’s and previous scopes before LPVO became a thing. They just don’t suit me, they narrow your vision with small diameter reticles. Why I prefer open sight. Get situational awareness. But that’s just me. I like to kill everyone at once
@Bandit75 sent a NightForce Optic on my DSR…. Rep or not, it’s actually quite good. I’ll get a photo when I’m home.
Yeah not too shabby, I’d put mine back a little further if i could but the issue with the AR platform is that rear charging handle, the further back you go the more fucking about you need to do to charge a round, gotta keep the build realistic you know haha
@Maiphut Yeah known plenty of lads with scope bite scars, though I’d say most were from the Barrett. I saw a video when I was younger of a guy getting his whole brow cut open, that forged into my brain so I’ve always been aware of how scope can sting you thankfully.
I know LPVOs aren’t well liked in the real steel community. No real bebefit over a decent red dot.
The low magnifaction though I find pretty well suited to gel range, but let’s face it… if you’re anything like me you sight through a scope on a gel blaster with both eyes open. one for the crosshairs, the other to see where you’re gel’s actually going.
But damn, they do look cool.
