What Did You Get Up To Today?

AR15 and the Vector. My son did the same shooting package as I did, cost an absolute packet but we’ll never get the chance to do that again

Was that in the states.??

Awesome! Any full auto?

Probably the same genius who designed my ‘easy to assemble’ furniture.

HSS strat is a HSS no more…

It’s a little bit Gilmour-ish with that vintage tint neck, black pickguard and white pups, but I can live with that… sounds more like a strat now with those Alnico V pickups… bell-like tones, heaps of strat chime and that lovely Donald Duck quack in positions 2 & 4.

Good times! :sunglasses:

Yep indoor gun range in Honolulu :+1:

Unfortunately not, all semi but great fun none the less.

The AK I shot in Vietnam was full auto. I did a full mag dump of course, no screwing around

Been deleting Bots… was wondering how long before they started showing up here. :face_exhaling:

Who says you can’t polish a turd? :joy:

To prove a point to a mate who’s an absolute brand snob that you don’t have to spend big money to get something decent, I took this on. Same principle applies to gel blasters. I bought this cheap-arse ebay minger second hand from Cashies for $50… the worst from China, absolute howler. Alpha stratocaster copy, normally $129 with accessories and an amp… you get the idea

After doing all the following :

Fretboard level, polish and hydrate
Fretboard edge roll
Chinesium fret dress and recrown
Cut and polish spunk covered body
Replace rusty screws
Pot repair
Neck sand to matt
Tuners, saddles and bridge polished and serviced
Resolder electronics
Restring, intonate and full setup

It’s a pearler… plays beautifully, sounds okay with the budget ceramic pickups in it but throw in some cheap ebay Alnico V humbucker clones and it would be up there. Great little bedroom beater.

That said, it cost me nothing to do the work, so $50 outlay and my time. But… take it to a shop and it would probably be around $250-$300 for that. Add the $129 entry price and you might as well just buy an Ibanez.

But I proved my point. :+1:

Absolutely stunning work mate
It must be amazing to get hold of one of these “Doper Specials” and transform it into a hand made “Custom” piece.:ok_hand:

Would imagine that after all that work, wouldn’t sound far off an IBANEZ anyway!

Just got back from the local Dam…and DAMN it’s low. :astonished:

Where the Kettle is parked at this back corner section would normally be 10+ meters under water!

Gonna need a bigger Snorkel

Thank ye @DocBob… it’s definitely punching above it’s weight.

It now has a Fender Alnico V bridge pickup and a Seymour Duncan Jazz Alnico V neck pickup… sounds as good as anything else I’ve heard that costs ten times the price. I was going to sell it for maybe $100 and double my money… nope, sounds too good to get rid of, I’ll add it to my collection as a curiosity piece.

Sure, it might be the guitar equivalent of feeding strawberries to pigs putting all that effort into such a cheap guitar… but I enjoy it, it’s like therapy and a nice change from gel blasters. :+1:

Strawberry-fed pigs… that happens all the time up here too! :joy:

Picked up some batteries for the ACOG - planning to update the AUG.

Batteries in - no red dot, no reticule Checked the batteries, all 1.5 - 1.7v. Tried another set of batteries, No luck

Looks like I’ve got a cheap ACOG paper weight.

Might have to have some serious discussions about sending over that geetar my daughter got gifted for a bit of FriendlyFire magik!:rofl::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Got my Old jetski back, from the repairshop.

It was running like a heap of crap…rough running, and not revving over 5000rpm ( 7600 redline).
Tried the simple fixes, it was nothing simple.

The ski is a 2008 model, only has 150hrs on it, really good condition otherwise, good compression on all cylinders.
The open loop cooling system had finally packed it in with corrosion, a bit of water leaking…it needed a new head.

OPTIONS:
1: sell it to the wreckers.
The local seadoo guy reccomended this, as he said the cost of repairs could be more than what its worth. The wreckers offered $1000…including trailer. Peanuts…and empty hands when the ski’s gone.

2: Take it to the kawasaki guys down the coast.
Yes, it was an expensive repair ( more than the base value of the old 2nd hand ski), but you get to keep the ski, and realise its worth.

The brand new version of this ski…Has exactly the same hull and same engine.
Just a flash new upper deck. Whats in the water, is exactly the same.

The cost of repairs…was about 1/3 of the cost of a brand new ski.

So, for the money, i get to keep my older, known ski, which is now fully rebuilt.
Replaced the old carbon seals, and renewed all the other seals, which keep it watertight.

Its good to have, as an old 2nd hand ski, to take out when camping on dams etc, and you can knock it around a bit, and not care too much.

Plus, it has some sentimental value as well, concerning Dad…

Expensive, but glad i did it…

Its spent a lot of its life undercover, so its in really good nick, and comes up well with a good detail and polish…

Great decision mate, and I would have given the same advice… look after what you already have and it will look after you!

I know feckall about Jetskis (but many years on Ski boats) but judging by the pics, it’s a Fuel Injected 4 Stroke Engine.

I can tell you straight away what caused the rough running and leaking seals, and how to prevent the same issues reoccurring in the future!:grin::+1:

Another great guitar purchase…

Hardly used Sterling by MusicMan S.U.B. Silo 3 with new hardcase & stand for less than the price of a Le Hui MP9.

Swapped out the cheap ceramic pickups for a set of Fender Alnico Vs, what a hoot… good guitar. :+1:

That’s beautiful mate, a very classic looking bit of kit, and I bet you will get it singing like an Angel. :ok_hand::clap::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

She does well! I have played this on drums many times, one of Slipknots more “relaxing” songs to play! lol
Still some of the rapid tom fills are much harder to nail than some might think!
Joey’s drumming really shone through on this record imo. might have been the recording and production allowing it along with his technique!
Despite being an absolute beast on “Iowa” already, the sound really gave his drumming the space it deserved on “All Hope Is Gone”.
