I’d be branded all kinds of names by leftards but a lot of it is… cough cultural.
Import the third world and all that. Hasn’t helped that we’ve had a Labor government for almost a decade whose approach to criminals was a slap on the wrist with a wet lettuce leaf.
Spending some time today planning downstairs renovations to my highset… drawing up floorplans, working out wall and window positioning, incorporating amenities like aircon and dehumidifier.
One of the end goals is to create a climate controlled workshop area so that I can develop my aspirations to go full time guitar tech. Won’t be a bad area to work on blasters too, but I see my future leaning more towards repair and set up of existing stringed instruments and maybe manufacture of the odd bespoke custom… maybe. ![]()
Nobody’s going to be happy handing over their $5K Les Paul for setup or repair in an uncontrolled environment dominated by mud daubers, possums and other wildlife. ![]()
You’ll appreciate this then. Pulled this out of the cupboard after dad passed. Doubt it’s seen sunlight in 40 years. Took it to a luther who did his best but unfortunately this a pre-truss rod guitar and the wood in the neck has warped slightly over time. Still plays ok though.
It’s all good I’ve experienced similar in past and recent. Druggos come steal your shit, stole wheels off my car, all my tools and had a shit in my back yard.
Thanks very much ![]()
Wow… that’s killer. Looks beautiful. Is that a 60’s Klira archtop? ![]()
Very nice guitar, man. Shame about the neck warping, but if it’s still playable, don’t worry about it. It could be fixed with a frets out levelling of the fretboard and a refret but I wouldn’t recommend that on a vintage guitar. Just enjoy it for what it is. ![]()
That’s a great momento of your dad, matey. ![]()
Most of the markings have rubbed off with time but it’s a Hofner from the mid 50s. Nothing super special but still fucking old!
You might be right. Though it was never an electro-acoustic. At some point my old man did add a pick up for playing in Church.
Woke up to my alarm at 11am after getting home from work at 7am after a long night in the bump truck, getting to sleep at 8am, spotted a txt from O’Briens telling me my windscreen still hasn’t arrived despite it being due to be fixed today at 12pm
Fkn cars booked for its 30,000km service at the only place near me tomorrow morning for 7:30am which is a 40min drive to get there so I have to reschedule the service again for the third time because they couldn’t get my windshield fixed after the hail damage
Been stranded unable to go anywhere besides work because I can’t risk getting pulled over, booked and fined for a shattered windscreen.
Having to rely on my aunty to take me to my doc’s appointments for my cancer bullshit which is always a joyous occasion getting a lift with her as I get to hear all of her friends life stories and get to hear all about her telling everyone my life story ![]()
Fkn over this shit show of an existence, everything turns to shit and I seem to find myself getting fucked around and fucked over for no apparent reason whatsoever despite every effort I make to do the right thing, be a good person and a hardworker
All for nothing, fuck this shit
I hear you, don’t give up. I get shit dropped off. Dad dropped his lawnmower for me to fix for xmas, so I flushed the carb and went through the correct procedure to start it. Bang first pull, good old aust made Victa. So he is happy.
Logistics and trying to get things organized for what I do is extremely challenging. Put an order in for fuel, we’ll let you know when it’s coming, fkn rolls up 7am the next morning, new driver crossed the front wheels …bogged. I’m like ffs you have to be kidding me… oh well out with the tractor again. Put that truck in manual over ride and lock your diffs in, you are coming with me. It’s not a bitumen highway out here so drive accordingly.
Full size semi with 20k litres of fuel on board. Had to sink the slipper in to the tractor a bit but got him unstuck.
I’ve had to drive with a busted windscreen after hail storm smashed it to actually get to the repair place over 100klms away. You won’t get fined if you get pulled over just say you are on your way to repair place. Simple and compliance I’ve had it before no problemo.
Take it all in stride @shadow187
Nothing worth doing is ever easy… and payout for hard work and headaches always comes after.
Night is darkest before daybreak.
Looks awesome mate, I like it and I’m not really a strat guy!
I better not show Dad that ![]()
I take it your dad’s a strat guy? ![]()
Still needs a bit of work… pickups are sorted but I’ve still got some pots and wiring to swap out. As it is now, it’s an upgraded Squier Classic Vibe 70’s… humungus CBS era headstock and all. ![]()
But it’s a much better guitar than the two Fender Japan '57 reissues I can get my hands on to compare it too. ![]()
I can’t even remember what exact model the Ibanez was but was a limited edition. He does allright keeps him occupied.
Better than me anyway I can’t play for shit

When i got my GTI in 2020, i got paint protection with it.
Lifetime warranty.
A few years later, the paint was a bit faded and dull, time for a claim.
They buff the old stuff off… and buff the new stuff on…
So the paint gets a light polish, with reapplication.
Very good results, gleams like new…!!
Photos don’t do it justice…mirror finish…!
I wont wait so long, next time…!
Cool car in my fav colour ![]()
Towing with a DSG is all fun and games till you have to reverse up a hill. Had a Passat R Line and it was a hoot to drive. Same 2.0L with 206kW and AWD. Still basically drove like a FWD but still best value for money wagon on the road. Only parted with it to upgrade to the Touareg. 210kW, 600Nm turbo diesel, ZF gearbox and full time AWD. What’s not to love?
