Well I resprayed my whole damn tractor cab with Golden yellow not Rustoleum, but an australian made aerosol primer 2X, plus paint to stop the bugger rusting and falling to pieces when I need it.
Worked a treat. Cheaper than crap at bunnings that does not exist near me. 200klms away.
Rustoluem is a great product too, just made in America and you pay for it. Because of your mates Dump Tax

I bit the bullet, and decided to go for Dymark flat black / Tamiya Flat clear coat.
That is which was used, on the others…
Normally, it leaves a very deep flat black…but… these are "visually busy " pieces.
Lots of grooves / details etc, so its not as noticeable.
The middle shroud is Matte, all the rest are glossy…
So, the question remains…what to do with the glossy bits.?
Well, im looking at my original Thommy PR Kit build.
The horrible grey shrouds, are staring back at me.
I’m wondering…is this thommy kit, the exact same shell, as the snow wolf shell…??

You can see how gleamy it is… no real military weapon would be so shiny…
But, for a fun, one of…??
Worth keeping in mind that with black, a little bit of light reflection does a lot to highlight the details of contoured pieces.
If it were my decision, unless I was planning on going into an alien nest with the thing where stealth mattered, I go for the finish that showcases the piece in the best way.
In other words, I reckon “shine is fine”.
Beretta 92’s a good example… spray one semi gloss and it looks mint with all those sexy curves. Spray it flat and you lose all that and it just looks like a lump of coal.
Anyway, how the hell did you suck me into talking about blacks again??

The hi gloss does look good…then you look at a certain angle, and it goes white…!!
Still, i reckon its worth pulling the original one apart , for a look.
May as well get rid of the grey, and have the shiny bits in, rather than doing nothing…
And, if the original kit is slightly different than SW…just paint the grey ones…
The grey just looks ugly now…!

I worked in aviation for 25 years but I don’t remember anyone being OCD enough to stress over the particular shade of grey the F/A-18 ailerons were painted.
They were grey.

Well fixed me up Saturday, nekkminute we heard goats fucking around, fuk get the 7.62mm out and I was on a 4M roof trying to spot the cunts. Unsuccessful but ole Allan they were within 50 yards and he’s 84 and deaf as a post.

Bit of a brainstorm, before reassembly…
Tried one new rattle-can combo, i haven’t tried before.
Tamiya TS-29 Semi gloss black…Coated with TS-80 flat clear.
This works a treat…!
My other painted PR has Dymark flat black, with Tamiya flat clear.
Its a bit flat and muted.
The other was Dymark flat black, hit with semi gloss clear.
This was a bit too glossy.
My new combo straddles the gap.
The semi gloss paint has some gloss, but the flat coat drops the intensity.
Net result : the black a is bit darker than the All Flat combo, with less gloss overall than the semi gloss clear coat combo.
Phew…
At least i tried this, before reassembly…!!
Drying now, photos later…
So another 50 shades of black ?
