Aliens Pulse Rifle gelblaster

All back together…!!

For ease of dissasembly next time, put in a xt-30 connector…

Some skillful soldering there…but, was it by me.?.?!

I was so glad when i put it back together, pulled the trigger…everything worked…

even the shot counter.
I painted the back of the shot counter black, to blend in.
Covered the ‘eyes’ with blu tack… and hoped it still worked…!

Overall, it was a slightly nerve wracking experience, at first…
Thanks so much to F/fire for the guide…helped so much…!!

The only way to learn is to do it yourself.
I went slowly, kept screws where they came from with masking tape etc etc…

every single screw went back, where it came from.

A few lever marks on the back of the shell( Man, it was tight)…but looks so much better now its done.

I’m glad i went with “glossy up top”…gives it a bit more gleam, without being too much…

So, photo roll…

Grey is now offically ugly and henceforth banned…

#BlackCagesMatter!!

Sideways gleam…Charlie SHEEN…!!

You can notice the extra gleam, on the barrel, barrel vent, and front grenade launcher barrel end cap…
That wasn’t as painful as i first thought…i’ll crack the grey one open next, for a repaint.

That one was my initial Xforce Custom build.

There appear to be a few subtle differences… i dont think its the SW shell.
Still, i can always just repaint the existing shells.

For the M-40’s…

readily available on ebay…BUT…

It would be one hell of a job, to get the old shotty shells out.
They used some super strong glue, and you would risk damaging the shells / spilling solvent / deforming the shells etc.

It was only because i had the SW shell kit ( to fit on SW thompson) with the empty, un assembled rig, i was able to glue it up.

Also, for next time… i might use some tamiya gun metal grey, on the underneath grenade loader port, and the visible silver shottie pump cover.

I reckon that would finish it off nicely…

Next re-paint…

Full Extra Duty, Hi Gleam , all the way through…

Lets chuck these two on @Friendly_Fire 's back deck…

And watch them change colour…!!

Zero intervention role reversal…!!

10MM Caseless auto. Just ask Sigorney Weaver. Cop this bitch  :australia:

So…
I’m going to pull the custom apart, and give it a repaint, to get all the grey bits black.

I’ll also have a crack, pulling the old shotty shell out, to replace with my other mock M-40…

I’ll also paint the ’ sparkly silver’ pump/ shell covering bit, with tamiya gunmetal grey.

So, removing the old shotty shell…

Best way to do it.? Need to be careful and use minimum force to avoid damaging the Spas cage shell.

What’s the best solvent to use… best way to apply it.?

I need to remove the shell, yet preserve the cradle it’s stuck onto…it pump slide fits around it.

Cheers…

Try ISO alcohol for dissolving and clean usually works for me. Dont drink it of course :australia:  :v:

went to bunnings…picked up a couple of bottles of paint solvents.

Walking out, the chick said…" have a good night! "

I said, " one of these has to taste good !!"

She lost it…!!

No suasage with onion  :australia: :v:

thats a weekend jobby…!!

You mean solvent to dissolve the glue? :open_mouth:

Yep…
wanna dissolve the glue holding the shotty shell on.

Its pretty tough.

But, preserve the plastic stand holding the shell…and attach the M-40 to that.

Also…do you use tamiya gunmetal grey, plus ‘smoke’ to cover it.?

So did you have a good night? :v:

I use TS38 and top it with TS13 for my RC cars for the gun metal looks great. Check my Clod Buster pics :+1: If that is what you are after :+1:

Nothing so exciting, actually…

I wake up stupid early, in summer….around 4-4:30 am…

Can’t get back to sleep…

Still , it’s nice to watch the sun come up, and the Maggie’s singing…

In bed by 9 when I can….so it’s a self perpetuating cycle…!!

Back of the clocks suck….

Same here got to get up at 4am to get the job done. Which it is Saturday so nothing happening today

Try and go back to sleep, does not work :joy:

Re your paint question(back to the matter at hand) the smoke clear coat I can’t remember the code number and don’t use it for RC stuff. A smoke version just dulls it a bit if that is what you are after.

I’ll try some ts38.
The other day, all i could find was Ts42( light gunmetal grey)
It actually looks pretty good, for the underloader, and side cover.

I’ll try a bit of smoke on top, to flatten and darken it a bit…might be the winner…

The lower part of the body is TS38 gunmetal grey topped with 8 coats of TS13 over the stickers and all.

Tamiya TS Spray Paint (100mL) (All Colours Available) | eBay Australia

Bit costly but available and the results are good. :man_shrugging: :+1:

In answer to your qustion about solvent, anything that dissolves glue will probably dissolve the plastic too.

I wouldn’t be putting any kind of solvent near it… it’ll end in tears… and a buying a new blaster.

But we need moar blasters anyway to keep @RokSolid in business. joking :v: :australia:

Started it off, let’s not give up now  :v: :+1:

Any excuse to buy a new blaster, yeah…?!

Actually, it came out ridiculously easy…

I was aware of the dangers, of solvents…

So ( Method for future me, or anyone else, in detail…)

  • masking tape around shell.

  • Use tiny amount of Acetone based nail polish remover, on the end of cottonbud.

  • gently trace cotton bud tip, around periphery of joining interface. Sides, and front. allow time.

  • gently lever interface with small flat tip screwdriver.

  • apply tiny amount more, around opening crack…allow to penetrate (giggity!!)

  • it comes off with minimal force.

  • Use Tamiya paint remover, on fresh cotton bud, to remove residual gunge.

  • rinse off with water. Use soapy water and rinse again. Gently blowdry, with hairdryer.

  • Hit M-40 with a light coat of semigloss…gets it popping…allow time to dry.

  • glue in with 5 min epoxy…

  • Smile smugly knowing you beat Murphy, today…!!

The TS-42 gun metal light, is a very close colour to the M-40 shell…
"going up the road, to get some Smoke’s now…! "
The non inhaling type…
Going past bunnings, too…mmmm…

Might wash the sausage down, with some isopropyl alcohol to clean down the metal parts…

worked out well, only a couple of drops of solvent required, via cotton bud tip, to dissolve a thin layer of glue…the curved cradle holds it in…not a drop, went onto the shell…

That’s 2 M-40’d Pulse rifles, now…!!

Have a snossage for me…

Wait a minute you have nails now   :australia: :v:
