Cover the LED lights, with clear masking tape…
Make sure you point the vent away from the booth opening, otherwise the fans will drag the crap back down over the piece you are working on
Also dont use a vacuum cleaner to suck the thinners out of the vent. You can turn a barrel Electrolux into a small jet engine if you spray enough propellant into the body - just ask my mother-in-law
That vent is supposed to sit in a window and vent outside, and they have exhaust fans behind the blue mesh so you don’t need a vac for it.
i reckon i’ll do this…
1: spray in the middle of the garage, on the tarp.
2: garage door open, for maximum ventilation.
3: extra spray cardboard down, on top of tarp.
4: vent away in a straight line , away from booth, towards open garage door.
That should suck the immediate fumes out, and blow them as far away as possible…

They’re designed more for small models and minimal paint being put out.
So…first coat undercoat done.
A few spit blobs in one area.
Let it dry, very lightly sand, prime and paint again.?
If it’s throwing blobs check the needle tip isn’t bent, and probably adjust the flow limiter thing on the back of the grip. If you’re opening the needle too much and letting too much liquid through at once it’ll do that, adjusting that limiter prevent you from opening it too much and gives consistency.
If you’re getting paint collecting at the nozzle collet thing than that probably means the needle is bent.

it was coming out really slowly…i opened the back up.
Probably a bit too much.
maybe a bit more through air required…20 psi.?
i saw a vid, saying to clean it…
empty the paint, and wipe the cup out.
Fill with thinners…brush around. tip it out.
Fill with fresh thinners.
cover tip, and press air, to cause back flow and bubbling…then tip that out.
can that damage the tip., if you press too hard.?
It can damage the needle if you’re not careful, but you don’t need to press that hard anyway, you can even just use a tissue or something and cover the tip. I don’t think the needle is supposed to protrude past that nozzle cowling so even a flat piece of cardboard or something should suffice, it only needs to seal enough that most of the air wants to go back.
That probably why my needle is bent slightly cause I pressed to hard, even though they’re made it steel it’s still less than 0.5mm thick.

Base coat done…
quick question…
i got rid of a few blobs, with light sanding.
by the time the blobs went, the black coat was almost gone…back to primer.
as you need black for the base coat…and it was a small area… i touched up with tamiya rattlecan.
Its a small area, with metal lacquer going on top.
As long as i let it dry thoroughly…(18hrs / w aicond heat assist), it should be ok right.?
Interwebs suggests 48-72 hours for Tamiya TS paint to dry, so I’d give it a couple of days.
thankfully, i painted up some test spoons…
2morrow will see, how the various silvers perform…!!

K’s pistol from Bladerunner 2049, 3D print.
Comes up alright sanded and painted… trigger guard’s tight so I think it’s scaled down a tad from the OG movie prop but print quality is pretty good. Not a lot of sanding required.
For the price of entry well worth it if, like me, you’re always looking for something to keep your hands busy.

It’ll need to fit a V2.5 gearbox…!!!
Fits but a bit looser than I thought it might be, will have to figure where and how to pack it out a bit so it’s not gonna wobble.
Had to replace the delta ring cause the stock one was all plastic and sheered some of the teeth off with the wrench getting it off, had a metal one on hand though.
Might try and extend the fake gas tube to help with keeping it aligned, a meer cm off…
