On a different project I made this little cutter for something else I’m working on, totally not obvious what it’s gonna be for.
Get that tingling feeling cutting it like you get peeling off the film of a new screen
Wow I’m impressed. That’s cool, thanks for showing.
Really interesting for me, how things evolve.
Is it costly doing that?
To get into yeah kinda, but once you have the printer and that not particularly, the P1S with the AMS system I have was about $1400 but you can get cheaper models or other printers will work too.
A 1kg spool of this stuff is less than $40 and that stock only used like 200g. So far I’ve printed that M16 stock, the ADAR kit and another handguard and I still have more than half a spool left. The stain was just typical wood stain from Bunnings.
How does it feel? Mostly plastic or does the bit of wood give it a bit more likeness.
Raw it feels like if you had a piece of wood and have it a one over with an orbital, that sorta rough but smooth finish, if that makes sense.
i feel sorry for your nozzle, wood would chew it up eventualy i think because isnt it just chopped wood in the pla?.
It does use a hardened steel nozzle so it’s more wear resistant, it was only like 10% actual wood from memory and is been processed down to a finer powder, you can technically use a 0.2mm nozzle but it’s not recommended.
The carbon fibre, sparkle and glow filaments are much worse for nozzles, especially the stock stainless nozzles.
Thanks, i knew carbon fibre and that where hell on nozzles more so stock brass but forgot what wood was like because its like that rare material no one talks about but you know is a thing.
Yeah, I’ve only used two other types of wood filament and they used cork, which I guess isn’t actually wood seeing as it’s technically bark , but they were far more course but also absorbed stain a bit more because of it.
I guess being a natural material it can’t be as consistent as say carbon fibre or the phosphor they use in glow so there’s more chance of failure or inconsistencies, I have had no issues with the Bambu filament so far having used a variety of their materials.
Finally designed a flat base plate for those magazines with the weird base. Files are here → Flat Baseplate for Double Bell/Gen 9 Nylon STANAG Magazine for Gel Blasters by MemeMarine - Thingiverse
2nd coat of stain, only made it like 50% darker and I doubt I’ll be able to get a 3rd coat to stick, but I wasn’t going to anyway.
I know CYMA M4 magazines have a reputation for being less than great and always the weakest link in the chain, but what are we talking about in the way of ugrades?
Just an upgraded mag motor and a rewire?
I’ve got several CYMA mags and they are a little unreliable, the metal ones especially.
All my failures with CYMA msgs have been with the wires snaking at the hinge point on the feed for, cause the get kinked and stretched everytime you open/close them, they use the thinnest shitiest gauge wire
Quite often just changing the wires they are pretty reliable and support 30rps builds no problem.
As @DChapo says, the wires are constantly being bent and stretched. And they only have a couple of hairs of wire inside the cables.
I 3d print a terminal block, and a tpiece extension to be able to use gen8/SLR mags.
The other option I have gone is ldt tpiece and nozzle, with the printed terminal block.
I find the cyma tpiece better sealing and feeding than the ldt, but both work, just the cyma I’ve found better than the ldt route.
The LDT t-piece doesn’t have the ridge that fits on the inside of the gearbox and locates the t-piece. Agree that the t-piece extension does work great for Gen 8 mags
No matter what blasters I build, keep coming back to CYMAs for reliable game blasters. Can thrash them to death and they keep going. Just wish I could find some more nylon m-lock SLR handguards and some $100 specials
I might be able to help you out there with the nylon mloc SLR handguards @Wombat
I have several brand new guards of different colours still in their SLR packaging that I have noticed whilst digging through my pile of spare parts boxes looking for other stuff, possibly a few metal ones as well
Will endeavour to put them aside as I find them and send you pics of whatever I have available
I just want a UZI thanks
Hope you can hold your breath…
For a very, very , VERY long time…!!
Are you allowed metal cap guns in SA.?.??
appearance laws.?
