Current project on your bench

Well, I finally stripped the nylon gears in my latest CYMA CQB shortie build yesterday… I guess it was inevitable running an M100 spring in it, ain’t no nylon box that can take that kind of punishment forever.

So a good opportunity to kit it out with metal gears and an M90 spring today. Sitting on around 260FPS after rebuild so obviously some airseal improvements to be made there down the track. :sunglasses:

The nozzle in particular was letting the team down a bit. Great compression in the cylinder until that sucker went on. :person_shrugging:

Picked up this BF MK14 EBB cheap, came with no mag, a 7.4v battery with no charger (despite them sold with an 11.1v), no flash hider, no bipod

And a couple of issues, receiver mag terminals bent to buggery, mag catch appeared broken, mag prime wasn’t feeding gels to the t piece from the mag

With a little help from @RokSolid @Friendly_Fire and Low Guido’s review video, I decided to pop my teardown cherry and pull it apart to trouble shoot

Bit of exposed wire from the battery to the motor, nothing a little electrical tape won’t fix

Long story short, turned out the mag catch wasn’t broken, just not seated correctly, rectified that issue easily

Receiver terminal leafs were back to front, very tight fit to swap them back around the correct way but got it done with a little effort, not much but did have to take care

Was not ready to pull the gearbox apart  baby steps again lol, but that will be my next venture

Tested the mag prime and mag catch while it was apart, quick test fire

Gels flying out the barrel across my room, success :+1:t2::joy:

Reassembled, gave it another test fire, working like it should. Happy days :call_me_hand:t2:

Only issue is I missed reseating the safety switch properly so no safety but I’ll get that sorted easily enough.

Much thanks to the boys for their help and guidance, cheers rok and friendly :pray:t2:

Ah, well done, Shadow. :+1: Good on ya.

Great to see all your problems were easily sorted. Easy fixes by the sound of it.

Only thing I’d recommend is eventually getting some heatshrink on that exposed wire though. Means desoldering at the motor though… dunno how you feel about that. :person_shrugging: Still, tape’s good enough to get you choochin’ for now.

If you do crack it open to do upgrades, I can tell you it’s fully compatible with Gen 8 gear. I got mine from @Bigmuthadrums with all the good gear, just disassembled. A quick throw together and a little tweaking and it ended up a 320FPS beast. So definitely worth your while. :+1:

Mate… you’ve broken the seal now. The floodgates are open. You’ll be rebuilding blasters like a champion soon.

Enjoy that EBR… they’re a lot of fun. :ok_hand:

Anything is possible

Tempted to have a look at the young fellas LH HK416 that’s got a trigger issue when I have a bit more time, hopefully it’s just a similar misalignment problem because I hear parts for those are ghosts of ancient past and were few and far between from the git go

Thanks again

Time to think about doing a few foamie conversions to gel…

AA12 shottie shell ejector

SPAS12 shottie shell ejector

Neither one are particularly well know for stellar performance in gel form… have to see what we can do about that. :person_shrugging:

The All gel Spas aint bad….

260/270 fps, OOTB…

You should still be able to buy the custom gel shells…

The young fellas LH HK416

It’s having trigger response issues, firing but not feeding and sending gels… then trigger stops working.

I can see where the problem is but no idea how to correct it, looks like I’ll be opening the box to fix it but still not sure what will fix it. Everything seems to be there, doesn’t appear anything is missing, I think it’s just misaligned

I managed to get it to start firing again but then the trigger mechanism slips off of alignment and becomes unresponsive again so it’s unreliable ATM and has to be opened up again to correct it, needs a permanent fix

Any help would be appreciated, cheers

That is even before my time…
Good candidate for a gen8 conversion maybe?

This :100:% IF you’re okay with a bit of creative fettling. It’s an identical gearbox to the boxes in the Le Hui Scorpion EVO3, pre V2. My EVO’s got a Gen 8 in it, but it does take a little creative effort. Worth it though.

Horrible trigger system, touchy on disassembly, things go boing and even worse on reassembly. But definitely acheivable if you keep your wits about you.

Easiest and cheapest fix is to strip it, get some heat into that push bar and give it a slightly more downward curve, might be a little more positive and not slip over the trigger trolley . If you do that, don’t bend it too much or it won’t clear the trolley when it’s in safe. Maybe want to give it a tickle with a file to square up the end of it too where it’s undoubtedly worn.

Totally proprietry, not really upgradeable. The good news is a Gen 8 will fit that receiver but you might have to do a bit of work clearing the shell, lose a screw post or two in the grip. The angle of the motor is slightly different and the motor is wider and sits lower but that may or may not be a problem with the 416 grip. That’s why my EVO gets a wrap of squash grip tape around the grip to keep it together, I had to lose the centre screw post to make it fit.

If your son’s loving the 416 platform, it miight be easier to look around for a good used LDT H&K 416D. It’ll be a better shell but it’ll have a War Interest V2 in it, which is a whole lot of other issues. I went to the trouble of coverting my EVO because I had no other option, if a better quality V2 or V3 EVO was available I would have just bought that. :person_shrugging:

Thought you might have some insight into this mate!
I for one would love to see a new higher quality Scorpion on the market.

Thanks @Friendly_Fire

That doesn’t sound like baby steps

Sounds a little more above my skill level ATM lol

I wouldn’t mind fixing it if I can, no point having an empty shell unless you’re someone who doesn’t have a choice in the matter due to bullshit bans in their state

May have to look into the gen 8 swap definitely would need material to be removed from the grip to fit as it’s contoured to the shape of the propriety gearbox, not sure I have enough tools for the job, I have some dremel bits but have misplaced my dremel n not sure how I’d go with it, but definitely something to think about if I can pick up a decent cheap gen 8 gearbox for sure

What’s that youse always say?

Wouldn’t be gel if you didn’t have to fuck with it

Cheers :call_me_hand:t2:

The brutal truth of the hobby… but it does give us something to do in the non game time!

@shadow187

Be happy to look at it for you, it’ll be repairable for sure, no parts needed. Gottsa lottsa miles on the clock with those gearboxes… something to do with my obsession with CZ Scorpions.

It’d be a shame to have it sitting around not working. :person_shrugging:

Managed to get the piece that was sitting too high to sit lower and appear to function correctly on the trolley and it’s pushing the piece it wasn’t before properly now but now it seems the switch it activates has stopped working, trigger pull activates the trolley system “properly” but it’s like the piece that activates that switch has either become misaligned or the switch itself has shat itself…

I’m thinking it’ll probably be better off just going for the gen 8 gearbox upgrade, could use a beef up anyway as well as steel or aluminium barrel but no idea where to start in looking for a suitable cheap gen 8 complete gearbox setup that everything will line up properly for

Would also be nice to not have to run the bulky asf double drum mag as well but we’ll see what happens.

Appreciate the offer to have a look for me but my car’s out of commission ATM, fkn hail storm. Lucky I’m full compo but once it goes for repair I’ll be without it for a month and currently waiting for a new windshield to be ordered in so can’t even drive it ATM, total pain in the ass, serves me right for being in a rush to get to work after being out of town for the weekend seeing my kids and not putting my car in the shed before leaving for work :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I’ll keep an eye out for a cheap Gen 8, you never know. :person_shrugging:

Rok’s upcoming Vector Youtube content sparked a bit of love for the ol’ girl.

Fresh o ring, new 1.18 unequal spring, 70% cylinder, alloy barrel shortened by a couple of centimetres, integrated hop up and a few tactical accessories like a vert grip, momentary flashlight, laser and a Sig Romeo5 red dot sight to make it look more tacticool.

Solid 280FPS on a 7.4v lipo. :+1:

I’m wondering if the shorty barrels that Rok’s got with the brass hop ups would be a viable option for a Vector? Can’t see why they wouldn’t be a good fit, they work really well with the APC9Ks.

Hustle up with that Vector video, @RokSolid :rofl:

Friday! First one is more a basic first stage of what I do to a vector video… seals alloy barrel etc.

The next video is more involved with no expense spared for an awesome customer who has been quite patient waiting for it! Very invoked job with SHS gears brushless motor ETU… the works really, and some neat custom work that has come up so good, I wish it was mine!

It’s coming… I’ve been so busy that this Friday’s video is the only one I have ready to release, after that I can only hope I have a video done for next week, but I’ve had no down time whatsoever for nearly a month! The hard drive is chockers with footage I have had time to edit up.

It’s about time I made that

This piece, is a pain in the ass

Back in

Something must’ve been wrong, single test fire and this was the result

After correcting, which took ages with my fiddle fingers

Wrong alignment of the cogs so that failed

Need to open it back up again and try and get the gears lined up properly, would help if I watch a gearbox tear down video, just kinda fumbling around winging it at this point :grimacing::joy:

I’m not sure if it’s the anti reverse latch not setup properly or if I just lined it up poorly, but I’ll be trying again shortly I guess

Happy days :sweat_smile::sob::joy:

That’s the way! Get in, my son!

Do you get now why Jin Ming changed the game with the Gen 8?

I don’t know…

Is it because they are “easy” to work on, upgrade etc?

Got the anti reverse latch corrected I believe, but now that switch on the trigger trolley still isn’t activating.

Wonder if it’s to do with this lever at the back not engaging?

As far as I can tell it’s the only part not appearing to make contact when pulling the trigger

So at this stage it’s back together but still not firing despite everything being lined up properly as far as I can tell
