Current project on your bench

And people say that WA is the wait awhile State… we had Labour Day back on the 2nd of March!

Have a great weekend Guys and Gals!:tada:

Dang dab it!
Now I dusted off the old ACR DMR, I just went and found my old full metal handbuilt M4 still collecting dust in its box!

This thing was heavy AF, with full metal everything inside and out including the genuine dusty old hand-me-down Trijicon ACOG from the Iraq & Afghanistan conflicts, with the Pistol Grip, Buttstock and Foregrip in heavy duty Nylon/Steel/Alloy, it actually weighed the same as the real firearm when I researched it!:open_mouth:

Even that WELLs Buttstock has a fair bit of weight about it over the standard M4’s!

Damn fine M4, Doc.:ok_hand:

If that ACOG could talk, I bet you’d hear some stories.

Just weighed the M4 for shits and giggles, and like I said, weighs the same as the real Firearm and then some.:open_mouth:

3.1 kilograms for the real M4 without accessories and 3.5kg fully loaded with all slings/sights/accessories…
and yet mine is 3.1kg as per the pics with an empty gearbox shell, no gears, motor or internals, no Inner barrel or T-Piece, no battery, no Gels, no metal mechanicals such as the retaining pins, selector levers, mag release latches or anything else like Slings etc!

I would guesstimate pushing 4kg fully assembled and loaded as a finished operational Gelbaster when completed.

But the whole thing was built as a bullshit “break the weight limits” Gelbaster from the very start, hence it being fitted with metal components in every single aspect as possible!

Built up for nothing more than a hefty replica display piece more than something that you would actually try and lug around on a field for participating in games with!

Hence that awesome ACOG getting it’s home on this particular model, as more of a display item rather than wasted on some cheap plastic model out in the field somewhere.

The history of that ACOG is on permanent display as a talking piece model, not something packed away in a box somewhere.:ok_hand::blush:

What you get a public holiday? We didn’t even get one for Anzac Day. Why I make my own rules. I’m knocking off right now   :+1:

Its May the 4th.

May the forth, be with you…

Public holiday up here…!!

This guy lives in my walk in kitchen pantry.
Just because…!

Someone’s gotta guard the museli bars…and 50 shades of spray cans…!!

That’s weird, I read Youse got the Monday public holiday where as ours was on the Saturday this year…

The Anzacs would be turning in their graves…

UnAustralian to not have a public holiday in their honour

Yep my Uncle was not happy Jan after all he has done.

Gunfire breakfast, dawn service. Eggs, bacon and port around 4am Saturday, Marched for his regiment that he served in Nam.

But it is what it is.

Public holiday for Labour day in QLD only today I believe. Not here.

Jaysus! :flushed:

My heaviest blaster is an M4 too… with an ACOG it comes in at just under 2.9kgs, but it is a nylon upper on an alloy lower so I’m guessing if it was a full metal receiver it’d come in close to the 3.1kgs of the ridgy didge M4.

Mine feels heavy enough, I can’t imagine putting in a full day lugging a 4kg unit around.

Funny thing, I was chatting to a young bloke instore one day… he opened up his pelican case and pulled out a full metal M249 SAW paratrooper. With the PEQ, O-Light, alloy foregrip and ACOG on it the weight must have been up around 6-7kgs. He lugged that heavy sucker around at MilSim events all day and night.

Oh, to be young and dumb again. My M249 weighs in at 2.2kgs, lighter than my M4, and I’m fine with that! :joy:

Cheers mate, great information. :+1:

Like I said, was really only a shits and giggles build to see how far I could push the weight limits, and is DEFINITELY something that I would never consider trying to actually use in a game, as even just picking it up and holding onto in the most comfortable position possible gets tiring very quickly!

I couldn’t begin to imagine that young fella using something twice the weight, that’s just sheer madness!

P.S. I just remembered that I also originally fitted this with a Metal T-Piece and Stainless Steel barrel, (all removed long ago because of new Laws) which obviously added to the weight of this thing despite everything else being completely stripped out as well!:open_mouth:

My APS AK74 comes in at 4.5KG with iron sights. All metal. Go winchester just throw the bastard  :+1:

Mate, I hope you realise that when they recommend using a “brick battery”, they ain’t suggesting using actual House Bricks! :open_mouth:

I actually prefer the РОССИЯ methods when it comes to launching stuff!

Same with sidearm in games. I love 1911’s and P226 but they weigh around 1050g where a Glock weighs 850g. In the olden days the first thing done when converting screw together Aug to gen 8 was to throw out the rebar used to add weight. Already carry too much additional weight without having extra weight in the accessories

That reminds me of back in the old Gen8/STD/SKD build days where I used to hand make my own MOSFET boards, (as aftermarket electronics were non existent back then), and the only room available was to ditch that chunk of Rebar and design my circuit boards small enough to fit into that same space.:+1:

Never mind the space boot in the background

Getting stuck into trouble shooting the young fellas shotty

The issue is when you rack it, it doesn’t always shoot everytime, when it doesn’t shoot, the trigger pulls back with no resistance and nothing happens, you rack it again, it may fire or it may experience the same issue with an irresponsive trigger, usually when you continue to rack it after experiencing the issue, it generally fires by the second or third re-rack

The young fella doesn’t care, just loves it for its appearance and cool factor… I say F🤬k that, I’ll try n get it poppin’ every time

From what I can tell, everything is still there, nothing appears broken or bent etc, the main spring is a bit rusty but other than that everything else appears to be in order

I can only assume the trigger mechanism where the racking bar isn’t lining up properly at times somehow, but everything seems to be in its proper place.

So not really sure what to do from here besides a spring upgrade while I’m in here if I can find one not too powerful for the young fella, I think I put an m90 or m100 in mine, can’t remember but I’ll see what I’ve got. The only other thing I can think is maybe the track is a bit dry and a little lube may help

Besides that, is there anything anyone else can spot? Cuz it looks like it should work fine every time to me

Edit: I believe I have it to the point where as long as you rack back then push it all the way forward it seems to fire every time now where as it wasn’t previously despite having pushing the pump all the way forward again. Didn’t upgrade the spring yet, just swapped the rusty one out for the original spring from my m97, can always throw a bigger spring in later :call_me_hand:t2:

Further edit: FPS is very low in comparison to how mine was with the stock spring, I’m guessing it’s the compression. Highest was 168 fps, which is disappointing. Has me curious what a bigger spring will achieve, obviously higher but if the compression is shit it’s not going to make a great deal of difference may need to find another cylinder as it did lube it up a bit before putting it back together

With mine, an M120 upgrade spring was giving me 300+FPS. The stock spring seems to be around an M100 so it sounds like a big jump but it isn’t. One of my mates was running an M150 in his, getting over 400FPS but he dropped back to an M120 to save breaking the plastic internals.

These M97s are a bit fussy, you absolutely have to rack the pump fully forward and make sure it’s in battery before pulling the trigger, not doing that will definitely break the internals, especially with a big spring.

Your low FPS may be down to the cup seal not really doing it’s job… problem with them is they are always in a compressed state inside that cylinder, so older M97s lose compression over time as the seal gies hard. O rings will do the same but they’re easier to replace than the cup seals… I haven’t found the right diameter one yet, that’s why mine’s in a box.

The nozzle and t piece setup is pretty foolproof, so if your nozzle’s intact there should be no problems there.

Your feeding issue could be down to gel size… larger gels will get hung up in that pretty restrictive channel. Also it’s good practice to point the barrel downward when you rack, gravity helps a lot. I’ve found a large hopper on the pic rail seems to help feeding too… more weight pushing the next gel into the breech.

There’s not much to them, hard to get wrong. :person_shrugging:

This is to complicated for me to understand :sob:

General thoughts on two tone P90s?

I reckon they look schmick but whaddaeyeknow?

Yeah I’m not sure feeding is an issue, I think it was more the pump not going all the way back properly before pulling the trigger was the issue, the return spring may be shite as my one doesn’t have that issue, you still have to slide the pump back fully before pulling the trigger but his ones just not quite the same, hard to explain

Nozzle looked pretty good, I’m definitely leaning towards the issue being the cup seal being the issue, I hadn’t seen a red/orange cylinder in an m97 before, guido’s video was white, my one was white so I’m assuming the young fellas ended up with one of the first release style ones, couldn’t be sure

I wonder if there’s any way to revitalise the original cup seal to give it a bit more life, although I’m assuming not otherwise you surely would have sorted yours out

I did notice that mine liked the softer gels more than the harder gels, albiet the softer gels were older, they seemed to go harder… I was using fresh ausgel ultra elite v2’s, some older armour tech yellows, and a couple of weeks old ausgel original oranges, the original oranges seemed to go the best oldy enough averaging around 280-305fps

The two tone P90 looks dope, that’s not your magic colour changing bench so I’m assuming that’s grey and black… I like it. Looks sic
