Had a few more parcels arriving, but I’m a bit incapacitated at the moment, so updates and working on these things have come to a temporary stop for the time being.
Still plenty of work to do and more stuff on the way, so hopefully will be able to get stuck back into it once I’ve healed up a bit and able to use both arms again!
Anyrate, Glacier with metal portal axles and another set of better looking 15x10 style Sunraysia Rims and Injora tyres for a more realistic look by keeping the tyres/rims under the guards.
Might not look like it, but it took a LOT of modifications to be able to fit these axles to this particular 1/16 scale model, because I specifically ordered them from a completely different 1/24 scale model to achieve the correct track width I was chasing.
Also modified the steering servo to attach to the front diff housing instead of its original location high up in the body under the hood.
These wheels/axles are only temporary anyway, as I’m still measuring and researching what parts I will need to achieve the correct “Monster Truck” scale looking results that I’m chasing.
PS: Balsa Wood Speedboat also arrived safely, just haven’t been able to fully unpack or take pics of it yet due to only having one working arm!
Just had a pile of all sorts of different stuff roll up at my mates place while I was away this afternoon.
Lotsa random stuff to the uninitiated, but everything has a reason for myself and what I’m looking to achieve with several different builds for the fleet that I already have, along with even more stuff that I haven’t let onto yet!
RX/TX/ESC Combo’s to add to particular vehicles that I want to improve their stock performance…
Oh hell yea, my camera has been busy. But I got a pile of parts. I’ll have to sort that out soon and wash the Landbruiser as that is covered in dust now after Dad had a go
Hell yeah… that’s awesome mate!
Can’t wait to see what mad shit you come up with for the poor Bruiser!
I just tried doing some gearbox stuff with one of those 80T 150 motors, but I had to walk away as I just can’t assemble shit with only one hand.
Will keep plodding away and hopefully be able to modify some stuff sooner than later, but really looking forward to seeing whatever mad scientist stuff that you have planned for yours mate.
More fiddling around, during a massive amount of pain but still managed to achieve something though, as I’m going stir crazy not being able to do anything right now so pushed through it!
Brushless system in the Tan C-14 Hilux, plenty more unseen mods required to get everything to fit/work properly, but have it 90% done other than some wiring jobs to extend battery cables and tidy things up.
Had to completely disassemble and rewire the steering servo internal circuits because the steering was operating backwards, which was a prick of a fiddly job with only one hand, but got it all done and working eventually.
Used the soldering iron to cut out clearance holes in the under bonnet panels to fit the electronics and wiring, as well as to clear the larger/longer brushless motor.
Cheers mate, but no switch on these cheap TX’s, and can’t just turn the 3 pin RX plug backwards either, as the position sensor elecronics in the servo have a hissy fit!
That was one of the attractions of this hobby anyway, was to be able to problem solve and modify electronics/parts to suit.
All good as I have another Hilux I gotta do the same trick to it as well.
Cheers for the kind words guys, hopefully be back on board as normal soon.
You are right, just looking at mine that come with the Landbruiser. Doesn’t have that function like everything else I have. Guess they skip that to keep costs down for production. Don’t know how much cheaper you can get for a $20 TX.
Luckily reversing polarity on the components is just a matter of swapping over the wires regardless of what colours they are.
My YSIDO TX/RX has the ST/TH reverse switches, but that’s being used on the original white C-64 HILUX and cost a little bit more than the cheaper Surpass Hobby kits I’m using on these others models, which is exactly what I ordered them for and still do the job much better than the stock electronics regardless of not having all the bells and whistles.
