Offshoot RC Models/Drone Hobby Thread

Ah right, I’m in uncharted waters with this stuff but learn as we go. Onwards and upwards

It’s good fun for sure. 2 stroke motor in mine is fun too. But that’s go fast and really break shit

For sure, just got to be careful as that torque can snap diffs, driveline things. Should be able to trim the throttle down. I do with my Kyosho as that just wheelstands when newbies get behind the trigger. Let my mates son have a go, bang straight in to the paddock ute :man_facepalming:

Completely understand where you’re coming from…,. but these are low throttle lightweight crawlers, so definitely no chance of rapping hard on the throttle and destroying anything! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Even full TH trim on a 4500KV 50k RPM Brushless from standstill, at around 82:1 total gear reduction ratios, is only punching out around 600 RPM full speed at the axles and definitely ain’t gonna destroy anything in a hurry!

I’m still trying to get used to that double tap on the trigger between forward and reverse that you taught me with these modern electronics! :joy:

Normally try to run 2435’s, but this somehow ended up with a 2440 due to its KV rating, which is why this took extra carving out of the original front hardware to fit. :face_exhaling:

An extra 5mm don’t sound like much, but it’s massive if you multiply it by 1/16 scale!

The other thing I thought of for tyre clearance is maybe a body lift  If that’s somehow possible on that one.

Then you might not have to hack the guards up, which I agree. Looks like some farmer took to it with a 9"

Yeah that’s definitely possible, and I’ve already got some plastic posts and longer screws to suit, but it’s all good on this one with the portal axle now giving good tyre clearance.:ok_hand:

Hmm I buggered up there didn’t I. Doctor you can say, see I told you so

Hey do you want some tyres

Just gotta get out that slippery finger and get some nice Beadlocks to suit mate! :ok_hand::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m going to roll with those red alloy. The rubber is not as tacky, but for now as they say. . That’s me. Will revisit that area in the future at some point :+1:

The rolling diameter is not as much so I will loose ground clearance. Might have helped if the seller stated the diameters  nevermind I’ll get it sorted. :+1:

Yeah finding measurements for parts online is always a bigger effort than it should be.

I won’t buy anything until I can get the right information first by checking out several different suppliers and cross referencing advertised details.

Another leftover trait from my many years in the custom vehicle building industry !

Still waiting for my stuff to arrive.

I’m too busy watching this…

Got a bit of time to put some of the body details on. Swapped the standard flares out for the 3D printed wider ones. I’m impressed, front clips in, rears fit the bodyline and superglued them on.

The bullbar part of the same kit 3D printer seller for the flares. I’m stoked. Really impressed with these for the price.

Now what’s next, more bling and get under the hood for MOAR POWER

More lights too, but they are still coming. :+1:

This seller for the 3D printed flares and bullbar clips on, many other parts. Really neat 3D printing and seems strong.

Looks great mate! :raised_hands:
Definitely more like an Aussie Farm ute than a Japanese city cargo runner. :ok_hand:

I noticed the bullbar has spotlight mounts designed into it as well, which is a nice touch and a great location for a couple of retro HELLA Scale spotties. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It comes with spotties too. I just didn’t fit them as I haven’t received the wiring yet. Still in transit. With the lil clamp in led light things too. All 3D printed. I thought bugger it just clips on, I can remove that later.

I was really impressed with how 3D printing is coming along these days. Very impressive.

Agreed that the 3D printed stuff is just getting better and better as time/technology rapidly improves constantly. :ok_hand:

My light set for my young bloke’s MN82 came from the UK of all places, so the shipping was slow, but was cheap and wasn’t in any rush anyways! :sunglasses:

Payday today… which means… couldn’t help myself and slipped on the “buy now” button, seeing as I have no more orders for RC Crawler parts required right now and have been unable to work on much anyways… thought I’d get something that’s true RTR and doesn’t require too much additional work to get running nice and smooth. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Factory supplied with a 3S Battery, but all the internals are also designed to run on 4S batteries straight out of the box! :hushed::raised_hands:

The local Duck population at the Weir ain’t gonna be very happy with me!

That is awesome and they are a great rc boat. That’ll get you humming. Ehem fk a duck :joy:

Friend had an RC boat one time and gave his son a go, launched it back up the boat ramp and nearly took his head off haha.

Oh man it was a close one  Yep son was temporally banned and I said turn that bloody TH trim down so it can’t go so fast. Ok for us we know and have experience but the young ones. I thought oh dear there’s nearly a decapitation

Well that was fun… not

Decided to pull these apart and see what the go is

They are a 3 piece alloy rim. Proprietary by the looks. Which is fine. But then the Chinesium screws holding them together. Oh my lord, they were already rounded out from factory. I got em out alright, and back in with a few leftover skills. Haven’t got any replacements to put a decent SHS in on hand.

I’ll have to do something about that in the future. Thinking some of those Sunraysia’s the Doctor has and paint them red for something different besides black or white. We shall see what my pea brain comes up with

Took me 3 hrs to fk it then unfk it bwahaha oh well :joy:

I totally understand the dismal manufacturing tolerances of those Chinesium screws/allen head tiny bolts being completely whack!

Very difficult to find ANYTHING that will fit them properly, so I just do the old school trick myself and use Star driver hex bits to wedge into the little fkrs!

There’s plenty of different coloured Sunraysia Rims available, I just chose the White or Chrome for the old school original looks.

Highly recommended the larger 70+mm sized tyres on the MN82’s, as they are a bigger scale than the WPL C-Series that run around a 65mm type Tyre to match their smaller scale.

Still trying to get to the Post Office to get stuff sent off to several people, but still can’t wrap/pack anything at the moment.:face_exhaling:
