Happy days. The Injora tyres and silicone inserts fit the MN82 alloy kit rims. Yee ha
That should give me some more grip

Awesome work
Yeah they are like chewing gum compared with original tyres and am impressed the inserts were a good fit too!
Bet they wonāt stay looking that factory fresh for very long.
Got the light kit sitting in the tray. It finally came, only took 3 months
Strange for such a small part but I think they sent it by boat as it went from China to the UAE then Australia via tracking. Oh well it made it
Pretty bad when ya parts get a cheap around the world holiday and yet it would cost us thousands if we did the same!
Great to see it did turn up eventually though, as Iāve still got a few little wheel adaptors that have been lost in the Australia Post system somewhere and am about to just give up, as not worth all the stress and effort for $7 worth of parts.
My lighting kit I got for my young blokeās MN82 came from the UK and took about a month to arrive, whereas the extra two higher output batteries I also ordered for him did the same World Tour as yours and took about the same length of time to arrive as well!
Itās his Birthday Saturday, so can hopefully organise to sit down with him and get the lightning kit and aftermarket rims/tyres all fitted up and go for a test driveā¦he will be very excited indeed!
Let me know how you go with fitting your kit, but from what Iāve seen, looking pretty straightforward with the stock Circuit board and body wiring/light retainers already in place.
Best little addition was to keep the original headlight LEDās wired and simply shift them down into the driving lights in the front bumper when you replace the original combination headlight/park/turn signal with the new LED circuit board.
Yes, whereās my holiday around the world, wouldnāt mind visiting China and the UAE for free!
Gave the new Injora gummy tyres a test run. Game changer, goes straight up and over obstacles I was getting stuck at the bottom spinning.
Down the Led light rabbit hole for the MN82 now. Oh my lord
From what Iāve found thus far that lighting kit works fine on the stock ESC/RX so youāll be right with your sons fitting it straight up. Youāll have to drill out the bumper fog lights to fit the headlights in.
Me, as Iāve changed over to the Neebrc setup, I need to replug to futaba connectors, then add a resistor in or they will blow. I also want to add in bumper fog lights and bull bar spot lights as the bull bar came with light buckets.
Thought I had some Leds and resistors for my AFX slot cars I fixed up in the past, I do but they are the flashing type for cop cars n stuff.
I got some figuring out to do. There are helpful vids for both stock and Neebrc on utube.
Think Iāve got it. Ordered some 3mm leds that are 2-70v for the bumper fog lights and will use on the bull bar spotties so wonāt have to resist those. Same price as lower voltage leds $1 ea.
Well I think Iāve got what I need, not the brightest sparky
Excellent work mate, sounds like you have everything way under control.
Iāve just heard back from the ex missus, and apparently the young bloke has been doing some āmodificationsā of his own on the poor old MN82ā¦and not in a good way.
Being mentally disabled, he loves pulling shit apart and finding out what makes things tick⦠much the same as I was when I was very young!
So I just told her that I already have all these parts for him, so said Iāll look at getting it back for a little while to repair and modify it for him, hopefully so he can enjoy it for a fair while longer before dismantling ir again.
But hey, itās the gift that just keeps on giving, which is what the hobby is all about and should keep him happy until he eventually destroys it again!
Thatās the way, Doc.
When I was an anklebiter I had a box of things Iād pulled apart to figure out how they worked⦠had a bit of a deficiency when it came to getting them back together again.
Fortunately that was a deficiency I addressed before I started pulling aircraft apart to see what made them work.
Cheers mate, appreciate your comments
Yeah my parents used to call me āRobbie the Wreckerā when I was really young, as EVERYTHING got stripped apart and thoroughly inspected, tinkered with⦠and believe it or not, put back into working order again!
Thatās sorta where the āDoctor Bobā nickname evolved as I got older, a longtime running family joke that even when I reached my teenage years, I was still pulling stuff apart and inspecting/diagnosing/ tinkering and modifying stuff⦠including starting to build my first Car at 14 years old, and never really stopped for the rest of my life so far!
As you say, its actually really handy when they do all go back together properly and actually work!
Geezā¦AI is getting pretty hardcore these days!
Funny you should mention aircraft though, as Iām getting back into the Hobby with something a bit smaller, slower, basic and cheap enough to crash and replace a few times ⦠until I can get my old skill levels back up again anyrate!
Have a couple of the next level Warbirds in my shopping cart waiting until I can be confident enough to keep something in one piece for more than a few flights.
Was going to start back into the Hobby with Helicopters at first, but they arenāt as much of a challenge as Fixed Wing Aircraft, except for those Phsyco things that you linked @Orzo !
Good luck, foam ones? Definately need next to no wind.
Iāve got my next one in my crosshairs for when I can spare a few dollars.
Iāve always wanted one of theseā¦
Lots of F/A-18 memories from my working life, so big on the nostalgia factor.
But no blue sky in effect around me in which to fly it, sadly.
Yeah mate, back to the old Foamies, just like my Sister just returning to the Surfing scene recently, but buying herself a Foamie as a starter⦠and boy, did I stir her up about that!
Those beautiful calm days out on the water got me thinking about which Aircraft would be good as a start point back into the Hobby, and the cheap Foamies are a good entry level ātrainerā to jog the old memory bank again.
Having the Rock Crawlers out with me were also a good opportunity to give the Boats a rest between runs and tackle the rocks and sand tracks, and throwing in an Aircraft would just add another great challenge to extend the day and added enjoyment into the mix.
Every Aircraft we had back in the day were large Balsa Wood Kits, complete with doped fabric and very heavy batteries and electronics that made them fragile flying house bricks, so will be interesting to try some tough, flexible, lightweight modern designs for the first time.
Have also been checking out those Tundra/Bush Aircraft, and some other larger High Wing Cessna style models as a possibility in the future, but will wait until I get my flying skills brushed up with these cheap Foamie bashers first.
Mate, thatās a stunning looking model.
Maybe divert some Gelblaster funds into a little savings account and get yaself one ASAP!
Always had the mindset that if there was something I was REALLY intent on getting to make life more enjoyable, then I would always come up with a plan to make it happen.
Takes time and effort, but the old man always taught us that hard work and sacrifice could achieve anything in life.
This taught us patience and huge appreciation for whatever it was that we worked hard to eventually get.
After my massive health scare and being given a second chance at life, Iāve been more determined than ever to push that even further, because you only get one crack in life, and should enjoy it as much as possible.
That F/A-18 would be hugely appreciated just being able to have it sitting on display looking at it, let alone flying it!
Make sure to post some pics here as soon as it turns up!
Talking about savings accounts, I just opened one of these but can open up to 9 of them. 5.25% for those under 35
Couple of other going for 5.00%+ Rabo, Bankwest, ING etc.
You are a bad influence!
Will keep an eye out on these and definitely could see one as a great addition to the collection for sure.
Amazing how far technology has come, and the engineering on these is quite outstanding, especially for the price.
Great idea helping out the younger generation to hopefully get some decent savings rewards.
Unfortunately Iām old school, distrust Banks and worked cash jobs to put in the āShoeboxā Account to save for whatever I was chasing.
But thatās not how the world works anymore and the bastards make sure that you get stung on every dollar you earn/save and spend.
