Wow that spot looks beautiful, water looks good for RC boat too.
Yeah itâs my favourite spot in the hills above town, used to Camp Up there pretty much every year for around 6 weeks over Xmas through to the start of February.
Can be calm like this on good days, but also rough as guts with white cap swells getting whipped up by high winds because itâs such a massive body of water.
Great for the RC Boats on the water, the RC Rock Crawlers on the shore and RC Planes in the Sky!
Was a bloke up there yesterday hooning around with a couple of Drones enjoying the beautiful weather as well
Iâm surprised that you havenât swapped out the old Brushed motors for some MOAR POWER brushless units yet!
Na those silvercan 540âs go hard on 3S pops wheelies as is. They are cheap and go forever. Gearboxes/diffs will eat themselves if I go higher, something will break for sure.
Gonna need a bigger Truck!
One of these would be nice
Roban RTF 470 Size MD500E RC Helicopter 2 blades Green White Hughes GPS Model | eBay Australia
Very nice indeed, but that cost more than most cars that Iâve purchased!
mm know the feeling, Iâm just window shopping
Iâve been window shopping like a madman, and my shopping carts are overflowing⌠but my Bank Account and lack of income says otherwise.
Getting there. Filled the shocks with oil. Redid front steering servo mount as was not happy with previous setup. Replaced a few dodgy screws. Mounted and plugged in all the elec gear.
On the home run now
Must be nice working on something much larger scale and not dicking around with tiny 1.5mm nuts and bolts!
Is looking good and reminded me of some metal links I still need to find in my shopping cart.
Good to see the upgraded electronics, as I seen an image a few days ago of an old RC Buggy with the original servo driven mechanical speed controller still fitted, and that certainly brought back some memories!
Oh those mechanical speed controllers. I donât miss them at all, covering them in rubber ballons to keep dirt and dust out. Dressing with emery and cleaning the contacts often due to arcing. Not smooth, iirc it was slow medium and flat out.
Good riddance. I will upgrade the ESC one day as itâs still stock Tamiya one and dies when you punch off the line. It will do for now.
This one I put a seperate BEC with itâs own battery. Also a RX Capacitor backup just to keep a strong steady supply to the steering servos. Bit of overkill but itâs faultless and plenty of turning grunt for the big tyres.
Ordered some upgrades for The Frog build.
Alloy gearbox with CF plates.
AndâŚ
Very nice
The CF is a big leap forward in technology compared to the fibreglass resins that I had in my early TAMIYA buggies, CF is so much lighter and stronger.
Same with the amazing new CNC billet aluminium gear available, much more intricate and stronger than the simple old flat aluminium plate cutout parts that were all that was available.
Prices are insanely cheap in comparison as well, remembering how much money it used to cost just for a set of Alloy Oil Shocks would break the Bank!
For sure I err and ummedâŚfk it only live once. The gearbox $78 delivered, the shocks and mounts $48 delivered. Not too bad really. Carton and half of beer
Oh No! Not the Beer account, ANYTHING but that!
Maintenance day on the Boats, and found out why the TYLOSAURUS started making some horrible vibration noises the other day.
Brass bushings donât like the torque of the Prop Shaft on 4S.
Looking to find a way to remove the bushes on both UDIRC Boats and replace with some quality ABEC sealed bearings.
Also trialling out some ideas for the Mad Flow F1 Tunnel Hull, as with the larger battery packs fitted, the added weight wonât self right on its own anymore, and having to âAirboatâ it whilst upside down back to shore isnât the best idea for the Motor and ESC to be running without any water cooling.
Added some foam to one half of the Outboard Engine Cover, so hopefully when its flipped, a hard Starboard turn on the motor should in theory tilt the Boat enough to get the Port side Pontoon to flood and self right again.
Will test it out onshore before sending out into the middle of the Weir and having to Kayak for it again!
