pretty average, that they sell it like that…
Still…
I’m glad it got into my hands.!!

Yeah that’s atrocious, that left one looks almost intentionally rough.
There’s an option to intentionally add “fuzz” to the outer wall to add texture, something you’d use for a grips etc.
I was hesitant to send Jug some of those holsters I made cause they had some faint layer lines visible, anything that bad would be going straight in the bin for me.
Yeah, different standards, for different folks.
They came from the states, not that that makes any difference…
They weren’t expensive, but still… i’d be wanting to send something decent out, if i was selling them.
At least they got through.
Those ‘vertical lines’, on the very far right…
Is that typical of PLA.??
its actually a nice little effect…makes it a bit more metallic looking…
i remember the lines being very prounced on the original.
i spent a bit of time sanding, to try to get rid of them.
They were reduced…but not removed.
Now, i like em…!!

Postage was a significant portion, so i got two whole supps kits.
I might do the 2nd set, in the fullness of time.
I’ll treat it as a practise effort… i’ll try the sanding / filling technique, with a bit more patience…
see if i can get a overall better result…
Yes and no, there are a number of different type of PLA filament and they all have slightly different finishes so some show layer lines more prominent than others, PLA CF (carbon fiber) for example has quite a weird smooth yet rough finish but it’s uniform across the layer lines so unless there’s over extrusion they blend together more than say PLA Silk.
Print settings play the biggest role with slow and low, being slow print speed and lower layer height, offering a better more accurate finish than higher settings.
The default is 0.2mm layer height and speed varies on the printer, my Bambu Lab P1S would run at about 300mm/s for example. If you lower the height to say 0.12 it’s putting less material down each pass but it’s doing more passes so there’s less gaps, and running it slower means there’s less vibrations and momentum in the tool head giving more dimensional accuracy.
Is car body filler an option to cover the print lines?
Easy enough to sand and takes paint well.
dunno…
i can try.
after an overnight dry, i gave it a flat coat this morning.
unhappy with evenness of paint, final orange peel finish, and final shade.
sand back to nothing, and try again…
i might give tamiya semi gloss black a try…even / fine paint application , and probably wont need a top coat…
Light coat of car bog applied with a plastic squeegie, working at 90° to the printlines.
Block sand when hard with 600 then 1200 grit wet and dry, again sanding at 90° to the printlines.
Prime, paint & clearcoat.
Simples… I do it all the time with guitar bodies with great results. ![]()
Okay… attempt 2
Paint: Tamiya Semi Gloss black.
Top coat: TS-80.
It came up pretty well.
Not perfect, but good enough.
The lines are a bit rounder…sharper lines and angles on the original…
Good enough…
I like your pistol stand, is it lemon fresh

Good man, eat with pride. Even though I have NFI what youfoodz is. Damn I’m getting old.
I’m catching up on all this and great info here as I am doing some body touch ups as my Ford has battle scars from beating the bush. I sort of got a scratch about 3 ft long deep to the primer, but realized my mistake and need hi fill primer to fill the scar first before applying primer, colour and clear coat as it looks ok and good enough for the bush but I try to maintain the thing as I certainly can’t rush out and drop a 100k on a new one. So I’ll re do it once hi fill primer arrives. I’ve been rubbing back in between paints with 3k wet n dry (that’s what I had on hand) seems to be going ok being my first decent go at car body touch ups. I have to do it as being a Ford, they like to rust in pieces ![]()
Just on another above topic. You’ve confused fk out of me beemer with this…
You say vertical lines. I see horizontal lines. You know the rest ![]()

Had a quick look youfoodz, looks good as long as they source all local ingredients which I can’t find a statement on but surely they do.
I still like to take a bit of time and explore my iron chef skills while I can and come up with gourmet offerings. Sometimes I’m out of time and zap a freezer offering in a box. ![]()
“Oh wow! What’s Iron Chef Maiphut chopping up there? Are they scallions?”
“FUKUISAN!”
“Yes, Shinichirosan?”
“I can confirm that they are indeed scallions.”
“Oh wow… scallions. Risky move there from Iron Chef Maiphut!”
