Stop and think campaign

Hey, squiddy…

@Deadsquid

A few more points, for your debate…

  1. Collectors…
for those with an interest in historical military items ( people with family members that have served, in the past) …

This is a harmless way, to have keepsakes and memorabilia , of bygone era’s, as a rememberance, and show of respect, of their service, …at no real personal / family risk…
These are not functioning items , and therefore cannot do any real harm…

Also, debates are about shutting down the naysayers…so…

2: " Much has been said( fearmongered), about the potential risk of these blasters being used, for harm, and crimes…

While there is that potential, i would like to address a few salient points…

A) replica pistols have been available in QLD, for decades…there are very few crimes , committed , with these, or gel blasters…

B) Saddeningly, with the recent explosion, of violent crimes, australia wide…these are being commited with knives…

Gel blasters are banned in Vic…but this does not stop the sickening explosion of assaults, home invasions, and murders, by violent teenagers, armed with knives, and machette’s…

The crims don’t use gel blasters (which are ultimately, a harmless bluff) …they choose, and use, knives…to harm and kill , their victims…without regret, or remorse…( pause…wait…)

Machette’s…Good God…what the hell is happening?? ( go for an emotional response…pause…)

God Help Us.

In closing, i believe , gel blasters have more positve effects on the community…like minded people, and their children , come together , to have fun , play , exercise, laugh, and learn repair and maintaince skills…

In the end, its all about having fun, and, like paintball/ laser tag …this is all about fun…
Have you, ever tried it?

I believe, ( like the QLD Minister for Police), these benefits far outweigh the harm, a few reckless fools cause… the crims use knives, for crimes, anyway…

Licensing, although not ideal, would be accepted by the bulk of the community, looking to do the right thing, and wanting to enjoy a fun, happy, pleasurable family activity…

Its better, than having nothing, at all

I could collect stamps,…and no-one would care…
I could collect surfboards,…and no-one would care…
But…
If i want to collect plastic and metal toys, that resemble firearms…
What a mess…

despite the fact, that airsoft is legal, for a large portion of the rest of the world…
Thank you for your time…"

In any debate, there are facts and logic…but also emotion.

Facts and logic are numbers / data…but, if you can get a emotional response from your audience…you’ll win them over…just ask trump…

If you pass, i want a genuine 6 nugget pack…not a dodgy 7 strained nugget extra…!!

Yes for sure, but there is a whole lot more to the ADF than just being a warfighter. My Uncle returned to service with the RAAF, Vietnam vet 3CAV APC commander at 19, after a few year hiatus at civvy life. Ended up 2IC of Edinburgh RAAF base and never flew a plane, rode in a lot, only had to shoot the AUG on qualification at the 25M range once every six months. Besides that it was all about running the place.

There is a huge logistical side to the ADF that the soldiers and pilots and Navy if they don’t get support they grind to a halt.

Unless you just want to go Rambo, be prepared to march a lot

ALL THE KAREN’S AND THE WOKE BRIGADE WOULD GO CRAZE IF THEY SEEN THIS NOW.

Most people had access or owned
G-ns from the time they were invented till the late eighties here in OZ
After the port Arthur shooting the country went stupid with there g-n laws.
Rifle ranges are no exception
Bring all the ammo you want But you only allowed to load and fire one bullet at time.
Rant over :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Aus gov handed out surplus smellys and a case of ammo post WW2/Korean to farmers for vermin control at no cost. Mostly why the ones you see on the shop shelves these days the barrels are fkd. It was a tool.

A Bunnings carpark was the scene of a tense stand-off after a man waved his gel blasters at police to show them they were harmless, but officers did not see it that way !

Someone should tell him that there is no payout for “suicide by police shooting”
Here in Australia

Tried Googling the incident…… but there’s very little media coverage out there for once!
The only two articles that I could find are hidden behind Paywalls

Bunnings seems to attract idiots who carry gel blasters in public

Yeah, Ever since they increased the price of sausage on bread from $2.50 to $3.50

Yeah, that’s strange hey!
I found quite a few articles about people getting busted at Bunnings car parks in the last few years……… why is it always Bunnings?

Maybe Bunnings is the Australian equivalent to Florida

BUNNINGS is the Walmart of Australia.

Also the homeless in cars are allowed to sleep in BUNNINGS car park

Don’t get me wrong I am not persecuting all the homeless
Only the ones that arrived at there predicament by the choice’s THEY made.
I tried homelessness in the early seventies.
For a while all the drugs and alcohol and freedom seemed great.
But I realised if I wanted more than an early death.
This was not the life for me

If bunnings allow homeless people to sleep in their car parks…

Good on them.
Homelessness, is now becoming a real problem, even for working people.

I never thought i’d see the day…homeless working poor , in Australia…
They need to have access to clothes washing facilities, and showers as well…

At least give them a chance, to keep their self respect…

Yeah, it’s only a small article.
From the Toowoomba Chronicle -

What they also found might explain why he was stupid enough to “show the police they were only gel blasters”

Ice ice baby…!!

I could burst into song, and drop some lyrics about this one…

But, I’ll restrain myself…

Yeah homeless people are becoming more prevelant. I dont got to the office in south brisbane often maybe once a month, but start of the year i noticed two tents in musgrave park. Last week i reckon 15 to 20. Must be tough.

You’d think, given the circumstances ( that aren’t going to change anytime soon), the govt would resume some parklands / public land in the area…

It wouldn’t take much to build some basic ammenities, to house the genuine, working homeless…

Even if its allowing long term tents, allowing people to park and sleep in their vans etc there, get some port-a-loos in, and basic camping style shower blocks, and coin operated washing machines, also basic gas cooking facilities…

For those working, but struggling to pay $700 per week rent, it could give them the ability to actually save a deposit, for a home…

Some big blocks of land, sitting around, doing nothing…
I’d be happy to see my tax dollars, going towards that…

As i’ve said previously, Mum keeps the rent low, for her tennants…
They can afford $490 per week at north lakes , but not $630+ , which is the minimum going rate now…

Cheers for the info :+1:
How stupid would you have to be to have Ice and a Glass BBQ whilst in possession of “replica firearms”?

That’s just asking for trouble
