From what I can see so far it just looks like he removed the og gearbox completely and just slotted the mp9 gearbox straight in
the mp-9 gearbox, comes with a metal barrel.
A hopup, would protrude past the original muzzle ( i assume) and ruin the original look.
Without a indepth look , at the new tactical version, we wont know the setup…
If your keen, grab another b709 and go for it.
They’re not too expensive…
Yeah… it might be a "carbon copy"of the MP-9 gearbox.
If its exactly the same type of gearbox / outer shell …
they would swap straight over.
If its different…maybe a bit of work required to fit it in.

These mods are well above my capabilities
Definitely keen to grab the tactical version tho then possibly see if I can find someone to pay to do the upgrade for me if possible, down the track

@Friendly_Fire used these, to extend the barrel length of the mp5-k, to test longer lengths. It has quite a good air seal… i had to warm it in hot water, to get it on.

On the mp5-k ( v2 gearbox), it did 200 fps on std barrel.
using the above barrel extender ( adds about 3-4cm), it consistently sat around 220-230 fps.
On a longer barrel extender ( adding around 15+ cm of barrel) it got up to 280-290 fps.
It looks weird though , having a tiny barrel protruding…unless you hid it in a suppressor.
That way, you would get 280 fps out of a mp5-K.
F/F also made a suppressor, with a inbuilt / suppressor.
Screw it on, full length / full 280 fps.
Remove it , short barrel, 200 fps.

I think what needs to be accepted is that short form CQB blasters are going to be lower powered than full size field blasters. Just what it is.
At 200FPS something like an MP9 or MP5K is fine… it’s a trade off, you sacrifice power for portability.
You wouldn’t want 300FPS out of a 10cm barrel anyway… it’d be about as accurate as an 80 year old with St Vitus Dance aiming for the toilet bowl with his eyes shut. 
I’m thinking if there’s another more powerful gearbox that can be shoehorned in the tec 9 combined with a longer barrel, the tactical tec-9 variant would be the one to aim at going all out on to push it to it’s limits and full potential
I applied for another b709a last night and will acquire a tactical tec-9 variant as well as a mp9 gearbox as well, can look at barrels and different lengths when it hits the shore. I’m thinking longer metal inner barrel straight up the guts of extended muzzle would do the trick
If anyone has any ideas of what more powerful gearbox’s may fit, please let us know

Mount the scope on the suppressor, and have it hanging forward, to where the supp steps down…
Tec-9 already has top barrel aligned holes, for scope base retention…
Tap the protruding plastic barrel, for screw on supp retention…

I think the tactical tec-9 would suffice for barrel length as it is, but if you wanted I suppose you could go one better at sportsco and throw a suppressor on for shits and giggles

I extended my MP9 barrel by about 2cm to fit a 14mmCCW thread adaptor and a hopup. The 2cm extension was integral in the thread adaptor.
With 2cm extension in I saw a drop in FPS from 200 to about 185. Took the barrel extension out and back up to 200 again. Same drop when I tried a one piece longer barrel. Might be the reason why the barrel terminates so far back in the outer barrel in these. The MP9 box doesn’t like longer barrels and ugrading piston springs isn’t really an option with the proprietry box design.
Case in point, your UZI. That 200FPS MP9 gearbox only put out about 150 after adding the longer barrel required for the UZI shell.
@BME you’ve got the barrel extensions and a TEC-9… try it out, you may get a different result.

I’d say that would likely mean best the tec 9 would get with the mp9 box would be the max 200fps but possibly less because I think the tec’s barrel is a bit longer if I’m not mistaken
Wouldn’t be many other gearbox options then I suppose given the tight space of the tec 9
Stale, sounds like the tactical version running the mp9 box would be a waste n lose fps, Maybe more like on the standard edition with the mp9 box?

The stock and suppressor may just be cosmetic…
Good looking unit though… much better looking than the standard Tec-9.
Keep in mind too, the MP9 gearbox isn’t a stand alone unit… the trigger mechanism is seperate and part of the lower shell. Connected by a linkage from the trigger slide to the trigger switch up under the box. If you did try a transplant you’d need to come up with a way of actuating that switch. Or possibly rewire it to run a remote switch Gen8 style.
Won’t know until I get it I guess, I would assume it would have to have a barrel extension so the gels go all the way through the muzzle properly…
