TEC-9 and a 3 day growth! (Or..Big Trouble, getting it in from China !)

A few quick video reviews…

@AKgelblaster , do you know when yours are arriving in Australia.?

Will you have some gold ones.?

What about light up suppressors.?

Spare batteries / mags…are any other mags compatible.?

Is the “TEC-9” writing on the side, a sticker easily removed, or stenciled on.?

Thanks…

The batteries appear to be what’s the word, brand/type specific, that’s it, proprietary from what I was reading on another website.

I could be wrong but they definitely don’t appear to be a common battery from the pictures available on its listings

Yup…grab some spares…
When they eventually die, I’m sure some lipo swapping hocus pocus could be done…

But that’s a story for another day…

There’s extra batteries, t-pieces and magazines available from the m416 website on its listing

Dammit you beat me to it lol

Let’s see if @AKgelblaster can supply them first…

Hopefully light up supp, and hop up…

Looking at the 2nd video it looks to be screen printed or something, not a sticker but not etched on so could either reprint the whole body or lightly sand it off.

Battery might just be a couple of those CR batteries or whatever they’re called like what’s in those blue stick batteries, could potentially make a case for a lipo but it would stick out a bit from the grip.
All just observational thou.

Whale Oil Beef Hooked…!!

From , stuck in customs… to delivered today…!!

Big Trouble in NSW…!!
Here it is…

Quick…Lets get rid of that lower rail…!!

Clean barrel. Now me Likey…!!

Can we get rid of the red “TEC-9” paint…??

Yep…

I started off with metho…nothing removed.
Turps ( being careful with the plastic)… a tiny amount…yes…
Tamiya Paint remover was the best.

A small amount got rid of it quickly, washed off well, and didn’t attack the plastic…

Its cal 5.95mm … very precise…!!

Mag is also a bit longer than i’d like…may have to shorten it…

Ok, comparo time…
how does it hold up , to the shell ejector.?.?

The Shell ejector has…

More weight / solid build
Mag length about right
More accurate cocking handle
Easier dissassembly (pin from the rear)
Slightly narrower outer barrel
Bolt cycles all the way back
No GELS…!!

GEL version has

Custom battery in the pistol grip ( get a spare)
Longer mags ( more ammo, but i get a couple of spare…will cut one down)
Mag prime
Knob charging handle
Easily removable paint decals
Carry strap buckles, on LHS of blaster
Fairly solid build / no creaking
Serrations on grip are more detailed and pronounced
Half cycling blowback ( to be disabled)

All in all, not bad for sub $100…

Ok, performance…
As you’d expect…$100 pistol performance…

runs off a 11v proprietry battery…

This was a quick test, using xforce pinkies…

700 r/min and 160 fps…thats better than the Sten…!!
Feeds better and cheaper too…!!
Sorry, couldn’t resist…!!

Here are some mag shots…
Shell ejector is about 8cm shorter…

Opens at the top, with wires…be careful and grab a couple of spare mags…

It has a clear plastic barrel.
I might open it a bit later, and see what can be done to disable the blowback.

Being low fps, its very quiet. Will be even quieter, when blowback is disabled.
Also…very accurate, for its range. Only going about 15m, but very consistent where the gels were going.

It would be good for kids / mucking around / close range backyard battles / Jack Burton-ing it for Halloween…

The price is right, for what it is…grab one when they are released locally by @AKgelblaster … just be sure to grab some spare batteries and magazines…

And, @shadow187 , dont get too worked up, if its delayed a bit in customs…!

Here’s the real one from Intratec

Definitely need to shorten that mag though.

Looks like the mag is only glued together…
Hot water to get it apart…could wreck the elec’s…

Actually…scratch that…

Mag pulls apart super easy.
Remove base plate, whole internals are one piece, and pull out.!

Empty mag shell , and encased wires in the inner section.!

Easy peasey… looks like you’ve got a cut’n’shut in your immediate future.

Super jealous… even tho mines in transit.

I thought you had the silencer version ordered? Am I the only one?

Supposedly the version I ordered has 200fps, will soon find out

Glad that customs didn’t hold it up so hopefully a smooth transition for myself as well…

Nice review :call_me_hand:

The flashing supp, should be on the way.

Whats the first rule of FPS performance claims.?
Dont believe them…!!

There wont be a “200 fps version”…just sellers inflated claims…

160 fps would be about right, thats about the standard for the cheapy pistol types…

There might be some room for gains though…the clear plastic barrel ends about 4cm from the outer barrel tip.

A slightly longer barrel, and some checking of the air seals, might see a small fps improvement.

i tried some of the soaking glow gels in my fridge, they are a slightly larger gel ( albeit softer) and results were about the same.

I’ll try a few different brands of gels, but 160ish seems about it.

I’ll scuff mine up with some rub’n’buff …

From a customs / tracking point of view…my order still shows being in SYD.
Go figure…

At least we got a blaster out of HK.!!

I have also ordered a UDL P320 ( supposedly a higher performer / new gen Elec) , so we’ll see how that goes…

Supposedly over 200fps with an upgraded spring, so we’ll see how it goes…

For the considerable price difference between the two models you would expect their claims to be true, couldn’t be that expensive for the light up suppressor that likely most doesn’t charge glow gels to justify the difference in price, surely.

Either way, I’m just happy to be finally getting another tec-9 to replace the one I had as a kid that didn’t shoot but made sound and smoked from the barrel.

I’m pretty sure my dad broke it because my brother’s and I were running around shooting the ones we had making too much noise whilst he watched the evening news.

We’ll see who has the last laugh :joy:

I guess when you put it on safe you are a Tool   :+1:

Looks good :+1:

I like the big 50 clip, keep shooting till it’s empty bitch… oops sorry bad youth listening to Ice Cube and NWA

The new model is not ECHO1USA.

Its TARRIF1USA.

Much worse than safety, select that mode, and it backfires then blows up in your face …!!!

That’s the real Generally Awful Tool…!!

Final word for the night, for @shadow187 re performance…

I tried the Lehui MP-9 mag, with i hobby gels.

The MP-9 mag does fit into the tec-9…but lacks a retention slot.
And is a couple cm short, of ideal size.

In the MP-9… solid 190-200 fps.
In the tec-9… constant 150-160 fps.

Thats it… without the aforementioned tweaks…which may give another 10-15 fps…

The MP-9, is a great little rig and performer, for the price point…
