TEC-9 and a 3 day growth! (Or..Big Trouble, getting it in from China !)

Mate, the tec-9 I had as a kid didn’t even shoot at all, by design of course, so whatever the results for the version I ordered are, I’ll be happy either way

But yeah definitely keen to see what upgrades/tweaks can be done, but I’ll leave that part up to the professionals

@bme @Friendly_Fire etc :sweat_smile::grin:

Sure! There are already upgraded version as I know with at least a metal barrel, a hop and something more.

M416 has the hop up available separately on their website, I considered purchasing it but it wouldnt work with the silencer attached so not much point in my case.

It’s just a pity they most likely haven’t made the led light silencer version to enable it to charge glow gels to use in conjunction with it, would’ve been the perfect opportunity to do that with it, simulated muzzle flash will have to do I guess

Wow, that’s cool then…!
That would explain the higher price…

Did the factory do that, or the sellers.?

I wish they included that in their listing, it would make the claim more believable, and justify the higher price…

Which type are you selling.?

Does yours have the flashing suppressor.?
Any dates yet?

I ask a lot of questions, don’t I…??

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

A mag solution, came to me this morning, re MP-9 mags…

with the tec-9 mag (T9), its easy to remove the internals, and cut the outer mag down to size. That then leaves cutting down the internal electrics and feed tube, then rejoining the wires and feed tube successfully.

The MP9 mag is virtually identical to the T9 mag, except a teeny bit slimmer overall. The internal feed mechanism , is pretty much the same …just smaller.

SOLUTION: cut the T9 mag down, use the MP9 internals.
No cutting and resoldering of wires , or rejoining feed tubes.

The MP9 is a tight fit into the T9 mag…but gets there. Friction fit will keep it in place, though you can also build up the bottom of the motor, to fit snugly against the base plate. This would stop any rearwards movement.

MP9 mags are readily available and cheap…

@shadow187 , this could be a easy solution, if you wanna avoid soldering…

Top is T9 mag internals.
Bottom is MP9 mag internals.

Pretty close to the correct, cut down mag length…

I’ll grab some JB Plasticweld, when supercheap opens and get to it…

@friendlyfire ( or anyone else), have you worked with Plasticweld before.??

I think Ray used it, when he cut down my pulse rifle mag.
It came out super smooth…strong and you cant even feel it…

It seems to have a longer working time, and can be sanded afterwards.

Have you used it before? Is it the best plastic adhesive.?

Thanks…

This stuff?

Doesn’t seem much different to 5 Minute Araldite.

No…there is a one piece putty tube…

Mix the putty to mix.

Longer working time, and sand able / drill able when done.

20 min working time, and 3hr cure…

Sounds easy to work with…

Haven’t used that brand but have used other epoxy putty in adapting gen 8 gearboxes into A1 Steyrs.

Some of them (from Bunnings) don’t work well with some plastics. The JB weld one appears to be designed for plastics but not sure where you would pick it up (Edit - found it at Jaycar)

Got a tube of the putty…
Cut down mag, angle ground flat, and sanded…

Gonna play with the off cut and putty first, to get a feel of it…

Should be okay. :+1:

If it dries to about the same hardness as the plastic it’ll be fine. Some of the epoxy putties for metal are not good for plastic because they dry too hard and are too difficult to file and sand.

But that one looks like it’ll be easy to work with. :ok_hand:

Yes the flaming device is included in the new version. Price will be good and we will be stocking this model in Australia, USA and here. It is our goal to make the sports easier to access for new blood, and more affordable for everyone to enjoy the fun.

Does yours have the metal barrel / upgraded fps.?

Metal barrel, a hop and better air seal for sure. No guaranteed on FPS as it varies a lot due to worker installation and other external factors.

:joy::joy: Make it sound like we’re recruiting an army

Ok…before i go into it…this Plasticweld putty…

You might need experienced hands…
Ray at xforce did a awesome job on my PR build thompson mag…

My results were…somewhat less…

For a start, the working time is NOT 20 mins…more like 2…

You feel that heat, and it starts to go off…

Also, its very sticky/tacky…sticks to your gloves.
Hard to manipulate , and get into a very fine amount.
It ends up going on chunky, and your trying to remove before setting, and smooth it in.

I struggled with i, on the practise plastic offcut…and ended up not using it.
I was trying to keep the inside of the mag clean, so the internals can slot in easily…

I got from bunnings, some Loctite Plastic Super Glue.

Having never used this stuff before, i was surprised at
-how easy it is , to apply… and

  • how strong it is.

Its got a paint pen and some glue, use the paint pen to apply primer, then apply glue to one surface, and seal.

Sets very quickly…and Super strong.
After 5 minutes, on the scrap block…it resisted quite a bit of strength to pull it apart.

Very handy for small , fiddly fixes…try it yourself…$7.00

Anyway…mag time…having decided to use the Super Glue.

cut the offcut out, shortened the mag…

As these were 2 seperately cut surfaces, they were not a intimate fit.
I angle ground to a close a match as i could / best level.

There were still some voids, but i was going to give the glue a chance.

Sanded, rinsed, dried, prepped and glued.
Got it as straight as i could by eye, with the short working time.

Very tight grip after 10 mins, but some voids still remained…

completed mag…

I decided to fill the voids, with some 5 min araldite, for extra strength.
I waited about an hour, for the super glue to set, and mixed araldite up.

Silly me, i should have wrapped some tape around where i didn’t want the araldite to go…its smeared around a bit…

Anyway, i’ll let it dry overnight, sand down and repaint…should cover some sins…

Cut down mag in place.!! ( before araldite mess)

I cut to place the margins inside the magwell…most of the messiness will be concealed inside the magwell…

Magprime works, i wont test fire until resin dries overnight…

Time for some weathering, and maybe a pulldown to remove blowback…

A bit more Jack Burton sized…

Looks great :+1:

I don’t think I’ll go to that LENGTH with the mag, :smirk::joy:

The extra gels retained will work better for myself, I would expect you’d lose maybe 15-20 gels of the magazine’s capacity by shortening the mag, give or take

But yours definitely looks much more accurate to the correct mag size.

Great job :+1:

Ok… Quick pull down time.

To take apart, start with the cocking lever, and the exposed screws.
There are 2 more screws, under the outer barrel, up the front.

To release the outer barrel, push the release button, on the underside, forward of the trigger. The barrel pulls forward, and then can pivot upwards and out. Took me awhile to find the button…

Split the shell, and you have access…
remove the cocking plate.
To disable the blowback, dremel off the white tab, at the top of the cylinder.

Not a lot you could do, re upgrades…

As you’d expect from a sub $100 pistol…
