Send it here I’m in the market for another Kelpie after my young one was poisoned last year from the knuckleheads next door that have gone bust and out of here.
Kelpies are the best for me as they help with what I do and they need to get out and about. Run, far out. Such great companions.
Had this exact same experience yesterday when my sister picked me up in the BIL’s TESLA!
She had the Air Conditioning on and I asked her to turn it down…fukn DANGEROUS move that was!
Had to eyes off the road and fiddle around with the stupid big Computer Monitor to simply try and figure out how to adjust the vents etc and was veering all over the road!
I just told her to forget it and concentrate on driving the bloody car!
Can’t have a phone sitting on the seat, but have to use the big TV screen to operate EVERYTHING inside that dangerous POS!
Yes it’s getting out of control. I see it last weekend down the big smoke, I’m looking at the driver waiting for them to go so I can go. Nope got it’s head buried in something on the dash not paying any attention to the lights have changed.
Think it was a little bubble car Renno. Overpriced Barina.
Then realises it’s go time a minute later dumps the clutch and stalls the little shitbox in the middle of the intersection and pannicks. Intersection cameras were clicking away while I pulled up to wait some more for another cycle of the lights. I just shook my head, yep weetbix licence that one.
Easiest solution to make it so no one is getting distracted is to make everyone drive stick again. No time to look at tvs when your fighting with the worlds most uncooperative Toyota gearbox
Should come drive my terios, thing hates reverse and wants to die in 5th gear its that high and good luck getting into 4th if you dont do a dance before starting the damned thing.
Will never willingly sell the thing tho, love my little car and the sipping of fuel around town.
I build guitars for a hobby… six string electrics mostly. Repair and do set ups on them too.
A little while back I dabbled in cigar box guitars… built a few really good ones, instrument grade, out of premium timbers and genuine Havana cigar boxes, even sold two to a miner from up north for a couple of hundred apiece.
Imagine my surprise when a visit to the local Hippo pawnbroker revealed this shocker… but that price tag! Whooosh!
Now, not to criticize another’s work, but there’s no way in hell the pawn shop can justify that ticket price on what is essentially a weird little home made oil can guitar.
I beg your pardon young man. You definitely have not driven my FJ45. Better than a bloody old Sunbird 4 speed.
Commo, don’t need more than 3rd as that does 120klm/hr or you can do 120 in 2nd on the top end. Enough limits broken and fines paid with 3 - 4 gears left
I can attest to Volkswagen gearboxes being dog shit. I had a Type III notchback. Good first car they said. Was a chick magnet so had that going for it.
Walked away from that, had the gearbox rebuilt from a professional Peter Debiasi that was a Volksy wizz, still couldn’t quick change in to second with brand new synchros and everything nearing a grand. Twin 30mm solex carbs with bigger jets as I built a new motor out to 1776.
It didn’t go any faster
Fuck this sold it to Peter Debiasi for his wife, then bought a VP Holdon Commodore Ute V6. Now you are talking and never looked back
One time I’ve seen a yota box fail was my Dad’s brand new 1986 Hilux petrol. Just run in couple thousand k’s and the gearbox shat. Oh well warranty you think, nope no nope, I helped him over the pit get the fucker out and it was a 20 cent circlip popped off 5th. It was a faulty circlip, got a new one and bunged it back together and soldiered on for 400 thou until he sold it.
There were a bunch of 100 series Cruisers that came to Oz with Japanese domestic market boxes. Boxes were lasting till just outside the warranty period. Took the action by one dealer who figured out the issue and took on corporate to get them all replaced by Toyota
TC/TD Cortina’s had in interesting gearchange. When the nylon bush had a bit of wear the gear lever would pop out in your hand as you changed gear
Yup, I was with my old man in his same era Cruiser Ute when he blew the gearbox TWICE!
Once coming off the beach, simply trundling along in 2nd gear low, dipped the clutch to stop before the bitumen carpark and BANG!
Second time was up in the hills getting some firewood where he simply dipped the clutch to navigate around some trees and BANG once again.
Luckily my BIL is a heavy diesel mechanic for the local mining company and both times was able to order all the parts through work in a shady manner directly from the company’s TOYOTA Parts supplier, and we fixed each gearbox in his shed at home… but the old man sold it after that second gearbox failure and I don’t blame him!
@Maiphut … the best Cortina I ever had was an old ladies 2.0ltr Automatic Station Wagon that was given to me.
90kph flat out with a tailwind, no hope of overtaking ANYTHING, about 25ltr per 100klm fuel “economy” and just a dog of a car.
Even though the glovebox was full of reciepts showing the old lady had been charged for the timing belt being replaced 4 times in the years prior, the timing belt snapped just as I pulled into the carpark at work one day…so I just rolled to a stop, grabbed my bag out and walked away, leaving it there with the keys in the ignition and bummed a lift back home at the end of the day after removing the License plates on my lunch break.
Security were putting out notices for weeks about the owner needing to remove the vehicle, but I just kept quiet and they eventually sent a flatbed to take it away!
No loss as far as I was concerned and good riddance.
100 series has either got the r series box or the h series box as far as I’m aware. From what most people in the cruiser group have said that the r series box (my one) shifts a lot smoother then the H series but is made of glass and cracks it under load when towing or if the 1hz is turbocharged aftermarket. I could be wrong but the h series box is a chunkier heavy duty cast iron box that people have found more durable and is fit into the 100’s and 105’s with gods motor the 1hd-fte
I have some photos somewhere of a red cortina. Went to the Pub they said to get more beer, came back 4 hours later with my mate standing in the boot holding that on and in the other hand the exhaust that fell off.
I am not kidding
I did have a mate that had one of those 3ltr V6 Capris Coupes but I was never allowed to go for a spin.
Yes ABC should be renamed to XYZ Which rock did they crawl out of all of a sudden.
Wouldn’t even bat an eye lid when it was pointed out years ago that certain retailers were shipping to states they were not allowed. Old news and $50 is too much I’ll give ya $40
Oh yes I see it now. Haha and I quote “Gel blasters branded as submachine guns”
riiight. slow news day so drag that up out of the archives.
OMG I made the mistake of reading further and that Grundy person states
"Gel blasters are banned in Western Australia, with a maximum penalty of three years in prison for possession.
In every other state and territory, gel blasters are regulated like other firearms, requiring owners to have a licence, store them as they would any other firearm, and only use them at licensed venues. "
Oh so they are allowed in Victoria, NSW and the Northern Territory now with a FA’s license. Cool didn’t know that and thanks for the update. FMD
How about check the fkn legislation first before opening your mouth. Might help, and this is supposed to be information for the public. No wonder people don’t understand.
They also ran a story about the S.A. drought you’re going through… screened an interview with a farmer from Mannum. Could have been sheep, don’t recall.
She pretty much echoed what you’ve been saying about the lack of support.
For what its worth, anyone who has / is contemplating solar…
Now is the time to grab a battery system, with the federal govt rebate.
Its not means tested (Yippee!!) , and the rebate amount increases, as the size of the battery increases…
My quotes…
$3.2k rebate, on a 9.6 kwh batt. TOTAL COST… $5.8k out of pocket.
$4.3k rebate, on a 12.8 kwh batt.
$5.4k rebate, on a 16.0 kwh batt.
I already have 6.5 KW solar, but no battery at my unit…a battery would take it off grid, with Blackout backup capability.
With reduced feed in tarrifs, its better to be able to store the power in a battery for evening use. Depending on your setup ( gas hot water etc), you can have ZERO power bill…even with reduced feed in tarrifs.
Mum and i have had that for some time now.
Refunds amounts were positive and increasing under the higher feed in tarrifs, but now with the lower feed ins, still looking at very slight refunds, over the year.
Better than paying $3k / yr in power bills, and with batteries the actual price of power is irrelevant…if you never draw from the grid. As long as i export about 14 kw/hr a day, that generates enough to cover the daily supply charge…
