Plenty of idiots out there mate, which is how I got TWO brand new HONDA 400 & 450 cc Farm Quads for $400, and one of them was a 4WD Big Red!
City owner purchased for their rural property so that they had something fun to thrash around on the couple of weekends a year that they spent there.
Funny enough, he knew absolutely ZERO about motorbikes and engines, and wondered why after 6 months of them being parked in the shed, neither of them would start when they eventually visited the property.
Neither ran and wanted $1000 each, but I ended up trailering them back from the middle of the Wheatbelt for $400, simply because it was too much work to drag them back to the City, and being so far from anywhere, nobody was willing to drive all that way just to look at them.
Needless to say that a couple of new batteries, fresh fuel and plugs, plus carby strips/cleaning… they both fired up first turn of the key and ran flawlessly for years until I sold them.
Taking advantage of clueless city folk doesn’t really make me sleep restless when you have wins like this!
