You don’t know how many times I’ve said “I’m going downstairs to work on da Ooozi nine millimeeda” to Sammy, man
Then I come back up with the Spaz-12 and say “Da 12 guage ordo loader”

With the mag, neodynium magnets strategically placed in the magwell might be worth looking at too.
We’ll come up with some cunningly devised bit of voodoo to make it work…

It has no pity, or consciencse, if feels no guilt or remorse.
It absolutely will not stop , ever, until it completes its mission, or it is stopped…

Cross plate’s in… thought I’d post a photo because I reread my blurb above and confused the shit out of myself…
Removable to facilitate teardown, keeps the shell together and provides the M4 threaded anchor point for the top cover in the centre hole between the two mounting screws.
With top cover on and fake charging handle in. No shell movement whatsoever, tighter than a mouse’s ear.
Clearly, a few redundant screw holes to fill too.
Time to get a new tube of Metal Mend Putty
Looking awesome…
Fantastic job…
Me Likey…!!
I’d be keen, 20 characters
nice… gravity fed tho and only 220fps with bb’s so I’d assume similar to same output with a gel version.
desperately needs a paint job tho
edit: also comes in black
The rear bottom cover for the Uzi…
Definitely the part I was looking forward to the least… I’m no sheetmetal expert, not my field of engineering. But, no guts no glory, as I’ve been known to say… probably too much.
With the two shell halves together, I knocked up cardboard origami version of what was required to fill the cutout and cover the back end of the MP9 gearbox.
With the flat developed shape it was fairly easy to transfer the dimensions to a flat aluminium sheet, mark it all out, cut out the shape and bend as required. A quick coat of paint and I ended up with this :
Fits up to the Uzi shell pretty neatly, slightly angled, subtle but there and two screws at the rear do all the retention… when it’s screwed up tight there’s no movement.
There’ll be an alloy pad bonded to the bottom of that box cover to provide threaded mount pionts for the gearbox. Mounting screws will be from the top to minimise visible fasteners.
Glad that’s out of the way.
Decided to push on and get as much done as possible before the next storm hits.
Gearbox is solidly mounted to the rear cover, it ain’t going nowhere now. T piece and terminals line up beautifully with the mag, so it’s definitely in the right spot. Spring terminals need extending slightly, but I have a plan for that.
Looked into a battery compartment and discovered that a small battery will slide into the cavity above the barrel in the handguard and not rattle around. So no need for a battery box after all. I’ll take that win.
Knocked out a friction fit sleeve for the front barrel, holds the two halves together well and hides the old screw hole through the middle of it. The inner barrel will be trimmed back to just inside the outer.
Tomorrow I’ll fill any visible screw holes, which will mean a repaint, weathering to be done if desired by @BME. Then it’s sort out the mag retention issue, the grip issue, install the iron sights and it’s all yours, BME. with a plain magazine, of course.
