Wells buffer tubes must be slightly larger in diameter than normal ones.
Itās a bit like a cock in a shirt sleeve But you could always build up the buffer tube with black gaffer to tighten it up. Wouldnāt be the first time Iāve done that.

Got one on my full metal M4 Custom build, purchased new as a separate part, mainly because I needed the weight of the WELL stock to balance out the bloody heavy front end, and itās loose on the buffer tube as well
I thought that it was maybe because of the aftermarket metal buffer tube being slightly smaller than standard, but by your comments, must be a common thing for these stocks.
I am waiting for the bloody Keychain to arrive. Will post a piccie when I get the chance.
Will be expecting a full strip down and comprehensive review as always!
Yeah, pretty sure Well buffer tubes are fatter.
Shame, because itās a solid stock. But as I suggested to BME, if you really want to use it you can always run a few layers of tape on the buffer tube to tighten it up.
Yeah I think Iāll be doing the same trick with this one, as is the only thing that Iām not happy about with this build.
Everything being solid rigid metal, then a wobbly stock ruining the whole look and feel of the thing is just not on!
Itracking says delivered. Can breathe a sigh of relief or panic when coppas raid.
Yes there is Mil spec buffer tube diameter. Then there is commercial spec diameter buffer tube.
The gelblasters Iāve played with which is not all are commercial spec. You know civilian.
Then there was the headfk of buying ebay buffer tubes, or stocks which didnāt fkn specify one way or the other. So it was a cluster fuck unless you read what I already posted years ago and looks like nobody fkn read. Well got deleted when the old forum got zapped but anyway there was still a lot of confusion about it.
Then you throw airsoft buffer tubes in the mix that are mil spec. Annd see ya later have fun with all that.
Thatās what I found with this setup, which was fine on my original WELL standard buffer and stock, so thought, hey I need a heavy stock and the WELL was the heaviest out of all my Gelblasters, so Iāll just buy one of those.
Donāt know if itās the stock or the aftermarket Alloy buffer tube, but itās wobbly AF⦠so might try a few different buffer tubes in my parts pile and see if they are any different
Canāt try it on my old WELL M4 as was one of the victims of the bans and donāt have it anymore.
They werenāt loose on the OEM Well stocks⦠quite a neat sliding fit.
Iāve got the opposite problem, Doc.
With a shortened Noveske slim handguard the front of my M4 is light. Throw in the full metal receiver, metal box and a lipo in the buffer and the Well stock starts to drag the rear down a bit.
The stock on it now is a lighter and slimmer version of a standard M4 stock and seems to balance it out okay.
Shame, because I like the look of the Well stock, plus you get a QD mount.
Yes I can see thatās the big difference between your build and mine, length of front inner/outer metal barrels, alloy handguards and all the rest of the metal/alloy front sight, sling mount, real steel flash hider I got from the USA etc. adding much more weight forward of the receiver.
The real alloy ACOG went a small way to adding additional weight to the rear, more than the metal M4 carry handle/sight that I originally had fitted, and also added the QD mount type alloy sling mount/buffer tube adaptor as well as the WELL stock and Alloy buffer tube to get as much weight as far back as possible
I also recall that my original WELL M4 stock and buffer tube was a really solid fit, hence why wanting it for this build⦠but combined with this particular aftermarket alloy buffer tube, itās not good at all
Will dig through my parts pile and try out a few different brands of other alloy buffers and see if any of them improve the fitment of the stock
This is a good dia of your Mil and Comm I referred to earlier. That is a standard too.
Take note of the different threads!!
Cheers mate, such a pity that all that knowledge was lost in the old Forum, but great to see that we are back with a new platform to rebuild knowledge such as this
Canāt say Iāve ever noticed a slant back tube, same with the thread sizes, but will be something to look out for whilst Iām going through my piles of partsš
Always wondered what the difference was when something was advertised as āMil-specā⦠but now I know!
Sometimes the retailers donāt even know. Which helps a lotā¦not .
But the stock wobble, it can work in crossover but it will be wobbly because of the tube diameter is different. Stock, and tube, mix those up.
The slant back is irrelevant as most is from airsoft and have open ended for battery access.
Itās just the diameters man as you can get either or.
Great stuff, @Maiphut
Yeah, another good example of awesome information we lost when the old forum went the way of the dodo.
Cyclone prepping all afternoon. Furniture brought in, heavy stuff tied down. Water and food bought, power stuff all charged, 9 volts bought for the smoke detectors, kids safe with homework, alcho⦠uh oh I think I forgot something.
Good luck to you and the family mate.
Definitely gotta get ya fridgidaire fully stocked up with āemergency suppliesā just in case the local Bottlo⦠I mean Food Store gets flooded out!
Cheers Doc. Hope its nothing more than some strong winds and heavy rain.
Same here for the past two days @Deity333 stay safe, man.
Done about all we can to secure the property, now we just have to wait it out.
Made sure to 'get a special bottle of āAnti-Alfred Potionā ready for the event.
Anyone else drink Sheepdog Whiskey? Amazing stuff!
Media is blowing the impact of the Cyclone out of all proportion, generating unnecessary fear and panic buying. Itās only a cat 2 cyclone which means lots of wind and rain and if youāre near the coast, a storm surge.
There will be a bunch of trees stripped of branches, the power will get knocked out in areas with above ground power and areas that are usually subject to flash flooding will get flooded. Queenslander style houses can be at risk because the air gets under them. All stuff we have experienced before as individual events
The gov has issued some good guidelines on how to prepare and if they are followed you should be OK
Spent today moving all the loose stuff into the shed.
Just need to get to Woolies early tomorrow for a loaf of bread
