Mate… I can’t even begin to explain how often this happened when I worked at the retailer!
They’d walk in brandishing an assault rifle (for all Joe public knows) like there is no problem, just start talking and asking questions and then I’d pull them up…
“Okay, we will get to that in a moment, first I need to give you the stern talk about how not to get criminal charges for a toy”
Blatant stupidity is as much a threat to the hobby as criminal stupidity.
I mean I thought of doing the same with my old (outdated) auscam uniform with my JG works M16a1 with the red cap it came with over the flash hider as part of my “costume” as it’s the closet blaster I have to what was used in some Australian army units for that slight authentic look. And only because my kids do like to get in the Aussie-halloween spirit and joining in with the kids keeps them happy, all in the name of fun
Not really, it’s more that they like to dress up and get free lollies from randoms .
I mean who doesn’t like free candy?
But I knew it wasn’t legal, and I don’t particularly want to get shot, arrested, fined or jailed. So I did the right thing and didn’t put myself or the hobby at risk
Aw hell no, I was walking around with them keeping them safe. No way I’m letting my kids walk around asking randoms for candy without being there looking out for them
Remember kids, if you trick or treat without parental supervision
I’ve even heard Vas say on his reviews that some blasters are great for “cosplay”…
But if I rocked up to ComiCon with a Winchester lever action blaster and a 45 Peacemaker blaster in a holster I’d be breaking the law.
Is it also breaking the law if you throw a private costume party in your home and use blasters as part of your get up?
Think it would be fair to say that any cosplay costume using a gel blaster would be illegal, no? I guess cosplay with them is limited to skirmish fields only.
That’s actually interesting because I was under the assumption it was circumstantial as when I went to that military exposition in Laidley earlier this year there was a two younger blokes walking around with a Thompson and an mp40 gel blaster each in army outfits and you could clearly tell they weren’t your average replicas
What I mean to say is I was under the impression that in controlled environments, it was ok, but under specific circumstances and no battery/gas or gel ammunition allowed
Guess not after reading your post, so glad I chose not to take mine trick or treating…
I cosplayed Colin McRae and I need moar powa in my ute to catch the fuckers. 4cyl turbo diesel… meh . Still got some, foxy too, nearly ran over a half dozen as I flew up to them they just sat, wtf going on here. WW3. Lights out.
Good 2 nights of culling vermin, training a young fella. He’s on point now. 30 yards, 20klm/hr on the run, headshot.
He is going great and hangs on my every word and has it dialed all action work and safety. Tick that box, such a good lad.
