What Did You Get Up To Today?

Mate… I can’t even begin to explain how often this happened when I worked at the retailer!

They’d walk in brandishing an assault rifle (for all Joe public knows) like there is no problem, just start talking and asking questions and then I’d pull them up…

“Okay, we will get to that in a moment, first I need to give you the stern talk about how not to get criminal charges for a toy”

Blatant stupidity is as much a threat to the hobby as criminal stupidity.

I pretty sure he didn’t buy it in the shopping centre…

i reckon he was dressed up for halloween, out and about…

dressed in all black, with red "blood " paint on his face…

the kinda vibe that just screams " high school shooter"

Exactly which would elicit a SWAT type response…!!!

Sigh…!!!

I mean I thought of doing the same with my old (outdated) auscam uniform with my JG works M16a1 with the red cap it came with over the flash hider as part of my “costume” as it’s the closet blaster I have to what was used in some Australian army units for that slight authentic look. And only because my kids do like to get in the Aussie-halloween spirit :roll_eyes: and joining in with the kids keeps them happy, all in the name of fun

Not really, it’s more that they like to dress up and get free lollies from randoms :joy:.

I mean who doesn’t like free candy?

But I knew it wasn’t legal, and I don’t particularly want to get shot, arrested, fined or jailed. So I did the right thing and didn’t put myself or the hobby at risk

Just dont forget to smile…!!
Give em a free balloon, too…

Yes parents, send your kids out alone, knocking on strangers doors…

Aw hell no, I was walking around with them keeping them safe. No way I’m letting my kids walk around asking randoms for candy without being there looking out for them

Remember kids, if you trick or treat without parental supervision

Brings up a good point though…

I’ve even heard Vas say on his reviews that some blasters are great for “cosplay”…

But if I rocked up to ComiCon with a Winchester lever action blaster and a 45 Peacemaker blaster in a holster I’d be breaking the law. :person_shrugging:

Is it also breaking the law if you throw a private costume party in your home and use blasters as part of your get up?

Think it would be fair to say that any cosplay costume using a gel blaster would be illegal, no? I guess cosplay with them is limited to skirmish fields only.

Concerning cosplay…
i have heard that you are allowed to display blasters…they just must be first checked.

i.e. no projectile firing replicas allowed.
Upon entry , all “weapons” are checked for suitability.

Resin props are fine… blasters should be fine as long as they cant fire.
i.e no gas in pistols, no batteries in AEG.

that is my understanding. im not 100%…i haven’t been.

Transport them there locked and enclosed, under normal transport laws and it should be fine.

Back yard parties…tell your neighbours.
Better yet, invite them, and make them accomplices!!

EDIT: just checked…gel blasters banned.!!

Of course… this is Australia…
You only get to use Harsh Language…but don’t offend anyone…!!

Sounds like a good reason, not to bother…!!

Figures…

I guess you could take a Nerf M41A pulse rifle though… then again, probably not. :person_shrugging:

I went once, with friends, years ago…
Saw plenty of prop weapons then…checked at the door…

I guess the fun police descended….

Even darth vaders force choke, would offend some people….

“I’m triggered, by the insinuation of violence…!
Offensive gesture…!!”
:persevere::confounded:

Spent the day 3d printing some parts for a few people… and designing, prototyping, and printing for a blaster I am doing a review on.

The golden eagle blitz launcher!

It’s good. Their shells work fine.

Doesn’t fit cyma and double bell shells though by about 1mm… And since I have heaps of them it was 3d printer to the rescue!

Fortunately only had to print for an hour to test fit the rest is just toob.

Unfortunately the full print is 5 hours and with storms coming I will be leaving it there for the day.

It fits and works… will finish the print tomorrow.
Will include in the review for reference and bragging rights

Love 40mm blasters… not particularly useful and nowhere near as bad on the receiving end as they sound… but do give people a good jump scare in CQB!

That’s actually interesting because I was under the assumption it was circumstantial as when I went to that military exposition in Laidley earlier this year there was a two younger blokes walking around with a Thompson and an mp40 gel blaster each in army outfits and you could clearly tell they weren’t your average replicas

What I mean to say is I was under the impression that in controlled environments, it was ok, but under specific circumstances and no battery/gas or gel ammunition allowed

Guess not after reading your post, so glad I chose not to take mine trick or treating…

Stripping and polishing the frame and slide on my DB Taurus.

Just so sick of black paint flaking off the bugger.

Just Star group east whom have been very busy last couple years and expanding.

S.W.A.T. is USA group.

I dunno what to call the weekend I just had.

I cosplayed Colin McRae and I need moar powa in my ute to catch the fuckers. 4cyl turbo diesel… meh . Still got some, foxy too, nearly ran over a half dozen as I flew up to them they just sat, wtf going on here. WW3. Lights out.

Good 2 nights of culling vermin, training a young fella. He’s on point now. 30 yards, 20klm/hr on the run, headshot.

He is going great and hangs on my every word and has it dialed all action work and safety. Tick that box, such a good lad.

You do not get that in a training facility.

That balance between sheen and over polishing…

I’m calling that frame done. Now for that slide…

What did you use to spruce that up?

Looks good and very similar finish to the Taurus I used to have :+1:

I’ve used Flitz polish before with good results. Not cheap though.

That was just a chrmical strip back, a rub with 1000 grit wet n dry, then a bit of a burnish with 000 steel wool, Maiphut. :+1:

Kinda looks like the finish on the Beratra Inox but a little more brushed… just enough light bouncing off it to show off the sexy Beretta curves.
